    Well,

I've heard from a lot of people on RCGroups and even a club member say the Tribute flies like junk. They say the fusealge just starts shaking and it won't roll good and the wings flap like a bird. Experinces anyone???

    TTYL,
    Andrew T.

Flew my new tribute 3 flights this weekend and loved it. The balsa elev. joiner broke while building so it was replaced with hardwood. running the park 370, CC 25 esc TP 860 mah 3 cell batteries. More than enough power. No shaking or flutter, but the wings did flex some. This is my first electric, and I was surprized at how much power it had.

I didn't read this whole thread, but has anyone tried this combo, this is the gear I am putting in my Ultimate.

    Hacker B20-15L
    Phoenix 25
    HS-55's
    Apogee 830 3-cells

Thanks for your input, this should pull it around fairly well, ya' think?

    Ken

    P.S. I think the packs are 830's, maybe 870's, I don't remember.

Get 4 12" small diameter carbon rods or tube and pierce through the canopy area and poke it through right next to leading carbon tube on the wing so you can anchor the carbon rod to it with epoxy or ca glue. The end result is a diamond shaped wing brace. There is ZERO wing flex. If you already have flown yours without, they you will think you are flying entirely different plane.

    My setup:

    Axi 2212/34
    APC 12x6 Slo Flyer Prop
3cell 1050mah Apoge Li-Po (Kokam with high C discharge were anounced so will switch to it soon)
    Castle Phoenix 10 ESC
    4 Hitec HS-55

    Flight Time 10min
Mix Flapperons for crazy tight loops (more like tumbles) and Spoilerons for sharp walls and parachute.

    Red,

I've heard a lot about those Axi motors, I've been using the Hacker on all of my foamies.

I just switched to a HiMaxx outrunner for my Tensor 4D, because of the weight.

I'll try that brace method. I'm assuming there will be 2 per side, like an X, correct?

    Thanks for the idea

    Ken

    Kenny:

Yes 2 per side. It should resemble a diamond shape looking from the front. If you have done that, can you tell me how it flies?

I haven't done it yet, I'll let you know. I've been playing with my Tensor so much, I put the Ulti on the back burner.

    Kenny:

Above mentioned (diamond) is for Tribute. For Ultimate, you can use 2 longer rods similar to your Tensor. So it would look more like a "X" with center going through the canopy area (vertically centered) and ends connecting at the each base of the wing strut.

    Got it Red,
That sounds like it would work much better. I couldn't quite get the picture of the diamond shape on a bi-plane.

I'll be making a trip to the LHS tomorrow, I'll pick up some CF rod.

    Thanks,

    Ken

Need some help on the Tribute. This is my first post to the electric site and we've only been flying electrics for 3 weeks. I am trying to learn the electric lingo, but your help would make me feel more confident in our choices. I like the way the Tribute flies, but am getting tired of the noise and fragility of the gear box (and the plane for that matter). We are willing to give up on the 370 brushless/gearbox combo and switch to some kind of outrunner motor (Axi?) if you can give us a recommendation. I forgot to mention, no landing gear and flown off our backyard's grass. The landing gear was a joke... If you have another airframe that would be more durable for this hardware including the motor/gearbox combo, that would be okay too. We have a CC25 ESC, HS55's, Eflite 1200 11.1 batt's and Triton charger. Thanks for your advice in advance...

PS. My son and I like electrics so much that in the last three weeks, our inventory went from nothing to a tribute, 2 mini funtanas, and a tensor!!!

    Patrnflyr:

For tribute, any outrunner motor with specs similar to Axi 2212/26 or 2212/34 will do. I fly mine with 2212/34 with apc 11x7 or 12/6 slo flyer prop. 2212/26 will run good with 11x4.7 slo flyer. For esc, use castle creations phoenix 25 for 2212/26 and phoenix 10 for 2212/34.
Both motor with the mentioned props will work good with 3cell 1000mah lipo with mininum of 10c dischage or 10A ****inuous discharge.

I prefer Castle creations over Jeti for flexibility of programming setups.
