All the best of luck to the players in the Litco lotto tomorrow,
it costs nothing to enter

Flying Geezer -> RE: Litco lotto draw tomorrow (4/20/2004 3:51:12 AM)

SHHH! Don't tell anyone. The Alpha 4 fans don't want to remind anyone. They don't want the competition, and are hoping everyone will forget. I've been watching the forum for a couple of weeks, and noticed that this most talked about day is suddenly not being talked about. LOL!

rajul -> RE: Litco lotto draw tomorrow (4/20/2004 8:12:10 AM)

There is at least one better charger out there at a better price. No lotto hassle

SDR-Hammer -> RE: Litco lotto draw tomorrow (4/20/2004 1:21:35 PM)

And that would be?????

Aw come on!!! Spill it!!![:D][:)]

rajul -> RE: Litco lotto draw tomorrow (4/20/2004 1:40:24 PM)

Do a search here and I'm sure you'll find it [:D]

Josey Wales -> RE: Litco lotto draw tomorrow (4/20/2004 1:47:04 PM)

you talking bout the one from Horizon??

sfaust -> RE: Litco lotto draw tomorrow (4/20/2004 1:58:22 PM)

If it's the Miniron Mobil that you are referring to, I finally got one to play with. So far, it looks pretty good. 5 ports, 2 amps, NiMh, NiCd, Lith, Pb, etc. Iv'e got it on the bench now doing some test charges, so its too soon to give any real feedback on it yet.

If someone doesn't get on the list, and wants a used Alpha 4, check the classifieds section as I'll be selling one of my three Alpha 4's. I don't need 4 multi-port chargers!

SDR-Hammer -> RE: Litco lotto draw tomorrow (4/20/2004 2:26:50 PM)

The Miniron doesn't qualify under the "better price" category.

Would have bought Miniron a long time ago but what holds me back is I remember reading it goes into an automatic discharge/charge cycle ever few days.

I'd be really pissed if the pack in a particular plane were in the middle of a cycle when I wanted to fly.[:@]

sfaust -> RE: Litco lotto draw tomorrow (4/20/2004 3:17:38 PM)

No it doesn't qualify under "better price" category, but its not in the same class either, so one wouldn't expect it to. Just as the Alpha doesn't qualify under "better price" against any of the other multi-port chargers on the market because it has more ports, more features, etc. The Miniron has an additional port, it has twice the charge current, and it can charge Lithium packs, all things the Alpha can't claim.

It does perform a cycle on a 15 day basis, which I don't like for the same reasons you do. However, I never leave my batteries connected after a charge on the Alpha, and don't plan to on the Miniron either, so for me its a moot point. I'm also not sure if it performs this cycle in all programming modes, or just in specific modes, and its one of the things I will be checking for while bench testing it. The other thing is that in reading the manual its possible that it is using negative discharge pulses which renders it useless for turbines. Unfortunately, using negative discharge pulses will destroy the ECU if charged in the normal fashion with a charge switch/jack. Instead, the battery must be physically disconnected from the ECU to be charged. [:'(] I need to confirm both of these with the manufacturer and/or testing.

The 15 day cycle isn't an issue for me, and well worth any trade-off for getting the 2amp current, ability to charge lithiums, 5 ports instead of 4, a sequential mode. However, if it does indeed use negative discharge pulses, thats a killer for me, and probably most turbine pilots [:o] I'll figure it out and post back in a separate topic and not tie up the Alpha thread.

Josey Wales -> RE: Litco lotto draw tomorrow (4/20/2004 3:33:04 PM)

I sent my email at 9:03..I was home so I figured what the heck!! Havent heard anything yet

SDR-Hammer -> RE: Litco lotto draw tomorrow (4/20/2004 6:49:03 PM)

Sfaust, agreed the Miniron’s price reflects its capabilities. I’m just curious what charger is better, has 4 or more ports and cheaper?

I’m a battery moron so I need a charger that is a plug in and forget about it unit. So I will leave them plugged in until I’m ready to fly again. I look forward to hearing more of your input regarding that charger.

I finally scored on the Litco lottery but the darn thing will be delivered about the time flying season ends around here. Oh well I’ll take what I can get.

Shane B -> RE: Litco lotto draw tomorrow (4/20/2004 7:16:20 PM)

Shane B -> RE: Litco lotto draw tomorrow (4/20/2004 8:06:59 PM)

RPM -> RE: Litco lotto draw tomorrow (4/21/2004 1:09:11 AM)

WarBird Builder -

Mine's shipping on 10/14/04.

florida817 -> RE: Litco lotto draw tomorrow (4/21/2004 1:29:45 AM)

Third time lucky for me! I [:D]sent my order at 9:00am CDT plus 15 seconds and have a ship date of 9/2/04.

Just as an item of interest, Litco's reply email indicated my order was received at 8:03am EDT, so it was in the system for about 3 minutes from FL to PA. I was using a high speed BellSouth connection and would expect a dial up connection to be slower.

Good luck next time around and keep trying.

Tom

Shane B -> RE: Litco lotto draw tomorrow (4/21/2004 2:01:57 AM)

I rekin the next order date will be around November, I dont need another one, but i know some folks that want one,,, A freind of mine had one and a pwer surge messed it up, he sent it back and they wouldnt fix it, they said it could be fixed but not guranteed so they wouldnt do it, I thought that kinda sucked, That a lot of money , they could have at least tried ,,, about how long after yall sent your order did you get your confirm ,,,,

lennyk -> RE: Litco lotto draw tomorrow (4/21/2004 2:52:43 AM)

Well I got tied up at work and couldn't send mine either.
I have 2, but I have always failed when I tried your method, my success was with the single emails.

Sailor -> RE: Litco lotto draw tomorrow (4/21/2004 5:34:52 PM)

I used some special software to schedule an email to shoot at exactly 9:00:00am. My email server shot it out at that same time and I didn't make the cut. I wonder if I sent it too soon?

Over the years I have had hits and misses even when I sent the email at exactly 9:00. I think that internet latency is more the problem. The last two times I missed at exactly 9:00 and hit this time.

Bob101 -> RE: Litco lotto draw tomorrow (4/22/2004 2:09:48 AM)

Mail servers will "flush" out e-mails depnding on your ISP. Many times it will take several minutes once you upload your message to the ISP before it sends it out over the internet to the target ISP.

I used to use a mom and pop ISP a long time ago and they only checked incoming and sent out outgoing e-mail once an hour...

goldwinger -> RE: Litco lotto draw tomorrow (4/22/2004 2:14:20 PM)

Just trying figure out how many are built at each run??? I have a July date
