Status: offline 		Does YS 63 engine make cracking sound at high rpm ?

So far I have come across two YS63 engines which make this distinct cracking (chattering) sound when flying at high speed even when the engine has been properly run-in. This cracking sound has not affected the power and the engine is turning an APC 13x6 at 10,500 rpm.

Is this normal and what makes the cracking sound. So far I have not come across any engine that makes this sound.

Appreciate your advice.

Status: offline 		I think I know what sound you are talking about. I think it is from the muffler. If I angled mine a different way I did not hear the sound.

Status: offline 		Both of my YS 63's do the same thing at high speed. The sound could come from the muffler, the prop tips, or from detonation. Try richen the high speed needle valve a click or two to see if that helps.
