Nitrous oxide does nothing for r/c engines because the fuel itself is just as potent or more than nitrous oxide, it consists of methyl alchohol, nitro methane, and castor/synthetic lubrication, the first two ingredients are very potent, hence why r/c engines develop so much power for so little displacement. Plus, if the nitrous kit for an r/c did work, (doubtful, not any noticeable diff) it would burn out glow plugs faster than you could think. The answer is no, it would not really work that well.

Homebrewer, for god sake, this IS a painting-detailing-blah blah blah, what on earth do you want...no wonder you have such an astronomic msg number - if you bash anyone who thinks different from you in every subject...come on, man. grow up. the guy suggested an idea for a style related mod, he never said anything about REAL improvements. I can sympathize with your opinion on ricers and such, but this is MY opinion, why be so judgemental about everything? live and let live, for cryin out loud. and you sat there and made that list (which could be funny if only I was lifeless enough to have the time to read it completly), which is longer than the whole darn thread, for what purpose? what point were you proving there, other than the mere fact that you would rather waste your time on bashing other people's ideas than coming up with an original idea of your own. dude, take a chill pill or something. if the RC hobby was just about performance and nothing about style, then why the hell does anyone even paint their lexan bodies, or why don't they make the whole car plain black plastic, etc etc.
gees, talk about being heavy. it's a HOBBY, not a religion.

"The answer is no, it would not really work that well. "

Actually.. Back when I ran nitro and cared about such things, I had a link to a site on which a T-Maxx had been modded to include a "NOS" system. It worked via the third channel and it actually worked. The guy had it on a dyno and when the system was triggered, the rpm jumped like mad. It was most impressive. I can't comment on the glow plug life though, but I agree with you that they would be short lived.

homebrewer i think needs another hobby besides bashing any thing that other members have on there minds.and can't believe you had that much time to write the post you posted. i myself came up with this idea a couple of months ago and mounted this on my maxx bed with mounts i fabricated from alum. and fake fuel tube that runs from the tank to the engine area under the body and it looks great. and have had many positive comments about it .but does nothing for the truck but look good. but that is no reason to bash me or anyone else for trying to make there truck look the way thay want it to.please homebrewer have a little compasion for other members for the idea's they think of for making there trucks look the way thay want. i am not bashing you in any way because i have respect for other members but please have an open mind about members idea's. thank you for reading. ranger1.

Keep up the good work Escalade Just try to ignore the people who try to bring you down. Maybe he is just so upset he didn't think of it first. LOL When people add touches of this and that to make them look like full size autos it is so cool. Friends used to think it was dumb to add yellow thread to plastic car model engines to look like spark plug wires, till I won 1st place in a show. Keep doing what you're doing and don't stop.

Whats wrong with being a ricer?

My mum gave me her diesel automatic toyota caldina and ive put mags and a new sterio system in the thing, there are petrol heads and there are people who just like to play with the look of their car, i am one of those, although when it comes to my r/c's i dabble in both. why do people hassle someone who just likes other things than what they like? its f***ing bulls**t ignorance.

Just wanted to say, GREAT IDEA! Escalade. I'm sure these guys would flame me if they seen my R/C or my real car. My '67 fastback has lots of GT 500 body parts and the engine is the 5.4L out of a totaled Lightning and I am currently working on several hop-up's like a nitrous system, huh imagine that. As far as my R/C goes its gonna have working head/tail lights, neons, and a Supra body that is similar to the one on The Fast and The Furious. If you really started looking into these "ricers" you would know that there are street legal Civics running 12's in the quarter mile. While there is no replacement for displacement I find it impressive what they are doing with these imports. BTW for all the guys that think torque is the only important part of being fast then you're lost. Toruqe is whats gonna pull you off the line. Hp, along with proper gearing, is whats gonna allow your car to reach those top speeds needed to finnish off the last part of the 1/4 mile. How about tryin to learn something before bashing every person that likes to race imports and learning about the acctual culture that is behind this import scene. Most of the people into this are doing so because its constructive and keeps them out of trouble other than a few tickets. I can only hope that my son follows in my current ideas of entertainment rather than my old ones like drinking, and causing random general trouble.

I like this idea and may incorporate it into the peterbilt body shell I just picked up today, though im not sure if it's going to be small enough.

The only NOS tanks I've seen have been in the trunks of Hondas that come into our dealership and they are rather small, maybe 1 1/2 to 2' long, so the scale may be off a bit with a co2 cartridge (atleast with the co2 cartridges I have seen around here), if anyone mounts one to their R/C, please post a picture for scale.

Thanks,

you have a point Flyingmist, refering to the ones u have seen, but some guys around my house have some huge tanks, like the size on scuba gear, so i guess it would all depend on the tank you're trying to replicate, i tryed a big one, though i didn't put decals on it

this post is not ment to offend any1 so dont go mad at me

but from various forums that i use alot of americans like to diss other countrys cars(not evry american)
wether they are japanese european or from anywhere else

these ppl are so stupid its beyond me to understand ther logic

yes american cars have big engines with lots of torq but they are also very heavy and most aprt from the gt40 and the saleen sr7
dont like to go round corners

yes japanese cars have small engines with smaller amounts of torq than american cars but they tend to be lighter so dont need all that much torq

and homebrewier what do you drive dont tell me a camero most proberbly
now that has to be one of the most horrid cars i have ever seen
much worse than some of the ricer cars i have seen and i have seen some bad ricer cars

so next time hommbrewier dont go runing your mouth off with out knowing the facts
and the facts are evry car is a good car to some 1 jus coz you dont like somthing it dosent mean that its crap

and to the lad who had the nos bottle idea

good idea that i might use it my self

Wow mjcole, thats exactly what I was trying to say. I left out the part about cornering and thats a very valid point. America builds the fastest strait-line cars in the world but we have only built a few cars that have the turning ability of a Japanese car. And lets not forget the true road machine builders in the world like Germany, Italy, and Brittish (seeing as the Noble M12 can pull more lateral G's than any other street car on the face of the earth they definatly need to be mentioned). In drag racing America is the promised land but Europe is all knowing in the total performance field. Ohh and mjcole, the Camaro lovers like throwing it in the face of the mustang drivers that nearly every year after the Cobra Jets the Camaro has been faster in a strait line, funny how they leave out the fact that the Mustang has NEVER failed to beat the Camaro on a true road corse.

ahh yes british cars

i dont know how many times ive been told that a viper would beat any brithish car ever in the history of the world

thats jus silly

we have the mclaren f1
and the tvr cerbra speed 12
tvr tuscan t440r
mg xpower
also thrust 2 sonic booming all the way to the land speed record

i know these are some of our fastest cars and ther are proberbly loads of american cars just as fast and faster(except for thrust 2) but ppl like hommbrewer still think a viper is faster
