Anyone heard any news about the FG Monster Truck or Beetle?? Any videos out there, or up close pictures other than what's on rc-car-online...??

The waiting period alone is diminishing the excitement...

I have over 40 pictures of the FG Monster Truck and a few of the Monster Beetle I have found online. I have a nice one of the Monster Beetle being held by some guy that gives a good idea too the size of the beasts. If you e-mail me or add me to msn messenger I can send some to you.

I have a truck pre-ordered with the 26cc and can't wait for it to get here. Last I heard they should be available end of this month.

Since the truck and beetle have the same chassis as a Marder, the overall length would be around 26-27 inches. Do you know if this is the length from from bumper to bumper, or tire to tire? Or is it just the length of the chassis itself?.....

Do you know if they'll have a MT conversion kit for the new Leopard Race??? Or a bigfoot conversion kit?

there is a conversion kit poart number for the Marder, but the leopard has a different chassis.

we run 87 octane in the states in the zenoahs. also I recommend 50:1 amsoil.

Cadtec you should come up to hideaway tonight, we will h ave F1's Marders and 1/4 scale nascars runnig. being a boat guy you may enjoy the speed of the onroaders..

We may get dodgy weather over here in England - but we do get damn good petrol at least!

I run my car on 98 octane unleaded with Castrol TTS oil at 33:1 ratio - there is no excessive wear on the engine and zero carbon deposits, plus the things fly on this stuff!

I'm not sure which zenoah CADtech is reffering to, but I've found that running too lean simply means the engine accelarates poorly and cuts out at high revs - i've never known a zenoah or solo to seize (other than when someone's forgotten to add the oil, or has played about with the internals themselves!).

Does anybody know of a firm release date for these MT's yet?I've heard end of June but these things seem to keep getting delayed.

gibbobaz, I emailed Andy but have not yet heard back from him. If I have to fit the FG cable fronts then I will....but the hydraulics look better.
You will have to explain the carb mod with pics when you get a chance, every bit of power helps!
Are you sure that pipe will fit the MT?....I want a pipe but need to know for sure that it fits before I pay....what are you putting on your MT?

CADtech...everyone has different info on what fuel to run, it just gets more confusing every day!. The place I am buying my MT's from say the higher the octane the better. Here in Australia we have standard unleaded @ 91 octane and premium unleaded @ 98 octane...ive been told to run the MT on 98 octane....as long as the oil is good.

I hope they are released this month...im sick of driving nitro @ 16 bucks a litre!!!

For everyone getting the FG Monster Truck, what radio gear and servos have you all chosen?
I have looked at 4 radios:
Hitec CRX
JR XS3
JR R1
Futaba 3PK
Any others I should know about?
I will probably get Hitec servos...have used them in the past and they are not too expensive. Looked at multiplex but they are almost twice the price. I'm sure they are good but with the Australian dollar buying only .56 of a Euro, I have to watch the $$$.
Servos:
Hitec HS5735MG Digital 1/4 scale for steering
Hitec HS5925MG or HS5625MG (both digital) for throttle/rear brake
Hitec HS5945MG or HS5645MG (both digital) for front brake
Not knowing a lot about servos, is there a big difference between digital and non digital....also between coreless and normal?
Do you need a PCM receiver to get the best from a digital servo?...will digitals run on FM receivers?
I'm about to buy mine so any help would be great.

Doohan,

The hydraulics should fit stright on to the MT without modification - unless the hubs are different to the Marder ones (I don't think they are), I would recommend fitting the alloy front hubs if you do opt for the hydraulics as these brakes put a lot of strain on them.

The carb. mod doesn't give more power - just better punch on acceleration and less lag on the throttle, basically you have to increase the angle of bend on the float arm that rests against the diaphram, get it right and it does make a noticable difference. I've got to strip down a carb soon so i'll take some pics to illustrate.

Going by the pics that i've seen of the MT, the Marder pipes should fit on without problems - mabey just a bodyshell trim. See the pic at http://www.rc-car-online.de/htstarteng.htm ->Monster Trucks -> More Pictures the top right image shows the manifold coming off the engine - this indicates a tuned pipe has been fitted so it looks possible. I'm going to keep the standard muffler box on mine - I just wan't it for a bit of fun, my on road car keeps me poor enough with fitting trick bits!!

I use a Futaba 3VC PCM radio which is excellent. Digital servos will work with any type of radio, coreless servos are just faster/stronger and more expensive. See my page: http://www.5thinsight.co.uk/glossery.html to get details of the differences between PCM and PPM.

Marder pipe fits fine , no issues, it is the one in all the pics. The Hydros that fit off road fit also, and the front upright 6103/5 for hydros.

Hope I got back to you on your email.
Euro and US octanes do not mean the same thing, I would bet we are running similar octanes.

Our Monster truck body, requires no trimming for the pipe, the bed mounts on the wing mount postes, and the pipe fits entirly under the wing on a marder.

If that's the case....I'm going for an MCD that actually comes 4x4 stock!....I'm sick of waiting...

I don't why companies advertise a product if their not ready to sell it, if you ask me, it's bad for business...oh well..

adios!
