dunno the speed yet, have not pushed it because of overheating. Seems plenty fast though. It's still in the trial and tribulation stages. the gear box is home made. Idea is to get the torque of that saito and not lose rpm at the clutch. Im thinking a cpu fan and its own batt might be the answer.

that could work. get a cpu fan and power that and it should not overheat or atleast it wont get as hot as before. are you talking about tthe engine heat?

what you can do also is tune it richer so it will run cooler.

What ?? ^^^^^^^^^ How did that happen?

Awesome project.
You could put a cpu cooling...uhh... thing. Its the cooling head thing which you mount the cpu fan on. That is what I use and it keeps it cool. Go here, thats where I got the idea.

http://www.rcgrabbag.com/rccars/tmaxx/fourstroke/index.htm

I am not sure this will work with that kind of engine because of the way the rocker covers are. But it seems like you did some machining on that gear box you made so mabey you can machine some cooling rocker covers.

Can you get some close up pictures of the gearbox you made?

How about some vids?

Don't forget, that you should NOT run car fuel in that engine. I recommend a YS 20/20 fuel. The extra oil will help.

Thanx for the info. I was curious how much air would be moved with a cpu fan.
I like that Idea of the valve covers... I need good metal to metal contact to make it work.I think the heatsink is a great Idea also I think I can mill one out to fit and fasten it with the valve covers. Pics and vids will come when all is complete and its race ready.
I am actually a plane fanatic, I just built this thing to drive the geezer bench nuts.(gotta give the old farts a bad time whenever possible, it's my nature, and besides, I think they like it!)
I'm sitting here right now looking at my stock P-4 heat sink..... size is right, I think I can make it work take me a day or two to draw it up then I can set up and cut it. I'll keep ya posted.

I am running 10% nitro with a 20% oil already and I know to run it rich. the problem is no air movement and the saito is made to run right behind a big fan.

its right at 2 hp but its making it at 9700 rpm not 80 zillion, as it is it will flip over backwards with out much of a squeeze . need good throttle management and a little nose weight might be helpful when I figure a way to make it look good , or better yet, useful.

your front seems to be really light, so it would be easy to pop wheelies, are you using the stock savage clutch?

Dude, I don't think you'll ever get that motor to run right on that truck unless you can simulate the airflow of at least a 12 inch prop. I would try running it really rich to keep the extra oil in it during your tests and make sure you are running a good 4 stroke aircraft fuel through it. I've been running Saito's for 20 years and this is the first time I have seen this. Good l
