The twin Allisons in a P-38, a Sea Fury with the correct Bristol powerplant, and Rare Bear on the race course. Not necessarily in that order, all are awesome sounds. Also, Precious Metal with the Griffon engine and counter rotating propellor installation has a pretty unique (and awesome) sound.

I personally like to here the Lycoming IO-540 singing to the tune of a Hartzell 3 blade composit prop and under the stress of extrem aerobatics. I also like the old war birds to. If I had to choose there it would have to be the Mustang.

Wouldn't that be an AEIO-540?

Seven to eight T-6's wing tip to wing tip flying directly overhead at 1000 feet or less before the start of a T-6 pylon race at the airport in Wilson, NC in the '70's.

I found nothing sounds as sweet as the engine hum of a C-150 after it spitts and sputters briefly at 3500 ft.

Best of all is the sound of the Unlimited Golds at Reno as they round that last sweeping turn with the sound of their exhaust and props echoing off the hills in the distance. Its almost sexual.

Strange I know, but for me its a C210 at takeoff power, the sound of the prop tips going supersonic.

I was about to run an engine on the test stand in my back yard yesterday when I heard a distince sound. I looked to the south and made out a Spitfire!. Wow! it was not full on, just cruising but it was easy to distuinguish that 12 cyl RR. I had to take a moment to let it fade away over the horizon. I also had a Zero fly over just last week. I have not heard of any airshows except the upcoming Thunderbird show at Maxwell in June I think.

Now that is the sound that every looks for, when you have the controls and fire it up check her out and take to the air and not want to come down!
