Can someone list some 50-60 sized electric helis that can lift about 3lbs and about how much they run?

I'm clueless on electrics.

thanks

Just about any glow heli can be E-converted. Just stick in the correct electric motor and ESC... strap on the batteries and fly it.

An example is a local guy has E-powered a Centrury Hawk which now outperforms my glow powered one. He did the E-conversion but did not do any other upgrades... so its a good comparison.

The cost of the E-power system is usually higher than the glow engine. However, over time the savings from not having fuel would make the e-power model cheaper. (if you don't break the E-drive stuff or burn up the batteries...)

You can direct drive the heli from the e-motor. No clutch needed. The e-motor isgenerally lighter than equivilent gow power engine. The batteries tend to make up for the weight savings though... and may have the final package heavier to get the same flying time with similar performance...

There is an advantage to the e-power that is hard to argue with... the motor just won't die on you with no warning. You only do "autorotations" if you WANT to do them. When the batteries are lo on power... the performance degrades... telling you to land for recharge (or battery swap)

If you want a nice big electric heli for lifting there is a Joker Maxi. It has a 1.8 meter rotor disc. The main blades are 800 mm. The tail rotor is up turned like on a UH-1. Fitz has them a FX Aeromodels. They aren't cheap but helis in general aren't cheap. The Joker Maxi should lift about 2 kg wich is around 4 and a half pounds. It takes 32 cell nimh or 10s and depenging on desired run time 3p or 4p on the lipos. The lipos are alot more expensive but the weight savings means more payload. I hope to get my Joker flying when I return. Militairy duty calls again.

Cheers,

Shannon
