Default Rubber Bandit - Piloted Rubberband Powered Aircraft

I know this isn't RC-related, but I can't find information anywhere on this. Does anyone know the status of the Rubber Bandit, the full-size, piloted, rubberband powered aircraft? The website http://www.rubberbandit.org/ has said the plane has been nearly ready to fly since August. I've tried contacting them several times but to no success. If anyone knows anything about this please let me know!

I haven't heard anything about it in 15 years. A guy in Van Nuys built it. He was always running from one project to the next, last time I saw him he was modding Navions. George something. Maybe it was 25 years!

I recall talking to one of the persons involved with this thing, who mentioned the danger associated with the gum band when it was fully wound.
During a test, one snapped, and tangled itself into a large knot.
They couldn't find anyone brave enough to try to untangle/release the energy stored there.
Were there a pilot in the machine when the motor snapped, he/she would be seriously imperiled!

The guys name was George Heaven. Ihaven't seen anything for ten years. All of the "rubberbandit" sites I've found lead to other companys, not the original site set up for the attempted flight of this machine. I'd like to know myself if this thing ever got off the ground.
