I was breaking in a new engine today and got to messing around with pipes for kicks and grins. I had an RB 063 and an OFNA 063 that for all intents and purposes could be identical, except the RB just felt like it was snapping the buggy around a little better. As I was letting the car cool down through a heat cycle, I closely examined the OFNA pipe and foud that the header, where it meets the engine was blocked off to a suprising degree. This came from the mating of the header pipe to the flange, and was obviously restricting flow. Out came the old dremel and I ground out the obstruction and smoothed the turn on the short side (the side closest to the pipe). The difference?? DRAMATIC. It takes care of the old RB now. If you have an OFNA pipe, pull it off and check it out, I cannot believe the difference that it made.

I think that I know what your talking about, when I was installing my 086 pipe I think its made the same way. Im gonna go check it out. I still dont know what day im going to the track this weekend, I guess i need to tell my wife what shes getting for mothers day so I can decide what day I can go to the track. [8\|]

LOL, my Kanais made it in, so I'll be going out sometime this weekend to break at least one of them in. Scale, that is exactly what mine looked like. Great idea to take pics, just didn't cross my mind.

Thanks for that inside tip FOURBOLTMAIN, way to go. I planned on ordering the ofna 063 within the next week. Now I know I can get a little more power from doing your trick. Great pics LIME, you are the man!..[:D]

with the size difference on the exhaust, my guess is the power increase is on both ends. It should wind out better and have more bottom end punch.

Holey Smokes talking about a difference, Ive never heard my car scream like that. I though the temp was wacked out when I heard how loud it was screaming on the to end, alot higher pitch scream, I ran half a tank brought my car back in after screaming it up and down the street a few times, 244 temp and my tires were bald in a few spots.. seems like a new motor, I want to try a power coupler now since thats supposed to add some more bottom end punch, I have the 086 pipe and now with the FOURBOLTMAIN mod its a screamer on both ends.[8D]

thats just another example of the poor quality a mass producer like Ofna are happy to sell[:o] at least now people will know to check their pipes & manifolds before buying them & select a part that has been made correctly(if there are any?)[;)] i always use the genuine RB or Novarossi pipes as the materials have been selected to give the optimum resonance & performance! 2 stroke engines, especially top of the line engines are very sensitive to exhaust tuning[;)] the difference between an Ofna pipe & one from RB may not be immediately noticeable on the track but even if its just a tiny bit more resonsive everytime you blip the throttle think how that would all add up over a 45 minute final[;)]

why not just buy a jammin pipe, they seem to be really making some noise across the racing scene nationally. built thick for you bashers out there as well.

i'm talking 1st hand experience, not some online world though, lol. going track to track and talking to people from state to state. here are 144 responses by some of the top drivers in the U.S. some good, some bad. fsome stuff about jammin products.

Linky no worky, but hey aren't you getting this information that you're sharing via the "on-line world" ?? EDIT-- I found the review thread you were talking about on the starting grid (part of the "on-line world"), not a lot of useful stuff there, mostly just chit-chat back and forth. Who, in your nation-wide travels have you seen running the pipe with unbounded success??

i never freggin said it's "THE BEST" pipe, damn. chill. it is comparable if not better then most the ofna pipes for the money, another alternitive is all. i know many budget races who enjoy it in houston and S. california. i travel back and forth every few months. take it for you will. honestly i could care less if you want some other options. just figured since forums are to help i would throw out some help. and no, i have not read the jammin thread nor run one of their pipes, again just know people in real life i have spoken with and recommended it as a best bang for the buck type pipe as another option besides the ofna ones. sorry i passed the word along afterall. lol

LOL Hey Shaun, no biggie. I'm just the kind of guy, that if you throw it out there, I'm gonna make you stick to it. I'm not mad, I'm not upset, and I'm perfectly calm. Just asked a couple of questions, that's all. Glad you like the JP-1, but it just doesn't make my socks roll up and down, sorry.[;)]

i used to post on Neo Buggy but recently deleted my account as the site was just becoming Boring[&o] it was just full of chit chat between a couple of newish members just back & forth between them, mostly just a sentence at a time[&o] not like the quality discussions we get on here, where people actually give reasons behind an opinion[:D]
