good day everyone. i have a few yrs of off and on flight. im realy quick to learning new controls and new rcs. also i got 17 acers of grass land to fly and its realy realy bouncy dence grass (i grow hay) i realy from what im seeing this plane seams to be a decent plane. i got a firebird commander and its just not cutting anything for me any more and i want to move up to something more scale. more controls and with experience can be flown in decent amount of wind (5-10mph) with control of bringing it back down if sketchey. i like this plane so far can someone explane to me durabilty and how it handles? reliable simple? just any goods or bads. im doing alot of looking into this plane and others but i like to hear some ppls responces. i read alot of this forum too but just asking.
    thanks
    kevin

    Hello to all,

Im pretty new flying, I have been flying the parkzone 210 centurion outside with no wind !!!!. it's was fun but wanted to move up in size so I recenty purchased the new PZ j3 BL Cub. I haven't flown it yet but I did notice the prop shaft seems slightly bent, probably not enough to worry about but would like to remove the cowl and inspect it. I removed the tape from the "outside of cowl to fuselage" and the prop and spinner. Does not want to come off.. is the cowl double stick taped to the fuselage ???

    Thanks
    Tony

I'm not sure about the BL model but yes, there's single-sided clear tape on the outside of the cowl and double-stick on the inside. Just gently pull the edges of the cowl away from the fuselage and it should come off.

I think you're saying that the motor/shaft doesn't look straight in respects to the center fore and aft center line. It seems more pronounced on this model than most. That's the way they mount the motor to compensate for the rotational torque from the propeller and that force is referred to as the TRUST ANGLE or P FACTOR. This is normal and is built into the design of the motor gear box unit or the firewall mounting surface.
Am I correct in my assumption?

The new BL J3 should be a blast to drive! Time to put the skis on folks. The extra power from the BL model should be able to handle the weight very well. I put skis on my Super Cub and FBF for some great winter fly-in.

Has anyone here driven the BL version of this classic B1-RD yet?

    jebeckham..thanks that what I thought.

Max...I see the J3 BL has a "down angle" on the prop similar to the 210 centurion in relation to the fuselage centerline, and looks kinda strange !! but as the motor is running you can see the prop spinner wobble slightly.

Is the spinner metal or cheesy thin rubber? If it is metal and is screwed on then you may have a bent shaft. Does it vibrate or have any unusual noise during operation? If it has the stick on thin rubber spinner then just run the motor without the rubber spinner but with the nut and washer still holding the propeller and observe the end of the shaft for wobble. If you've never flown the thing and the shaft is bent then the unit is defective and they should exchange it. The good folks at your LHS should be able to handle the problem quickly.

max...it's brand new never flown, unfortunately I bought it on ebay from Hobby-Sports. I took the cowl off and checked out the new brushless motor. Theres no pinion gear, prop shaft or gearbox. It's direct drive, it has a "prop adapter" that slips over the end of the main electric motor shaft and tightens with a allen wrench, although I don't seem to have that size unless its metric ?? maybe the adapter is off a bit, I can't tell if the main shaft is bent because you only see about 1/8 of an inch of the shaft, the rest is the adapter , prop and screw on metal spinner. If I can get the adapter off I can see if the motor shaft is bent, but it does vibrate a bit....pictures in my gallery, havent figured out how to put them in a thread yet.!!!

Well it turns out the shaft is ok but the metal adapter with the set screw is not the tightest fit, when parts are available for the BL model I will purchase another adapter. In the mean time I will call parkzone customer service ...

parkzone had replaced my prop adapter, biut it's far from perfect, I guess it's just the neture of the beast !!!

I have a question........I have flown the PZ Cub a few times since last week, I like to take off from the parking lot then fly over the grass...(the grass is to bumpy to take off) I now see the back part of the fuselage that supports the weight (where the tail wheel should be) is being ground down from the friction of the asphalt. Is there an easy fix for this or am I just going to hand launch from now on !!

Just got my Dubro snowskis today. got the put on and went flying. I like the skis. The field where i fly is not smooth. It only mattered going slow. once it had some speed it didn't matter. was pretty smooth. Had 4 very successfull landings and more than a few crashes but i'm learning.

I "lawn darted" my Parkzone J3 Cub last Sunday. My fault for not quiting when the wind started to gust. Here's the thread on the rebuild: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_7350999/anchors_7350999/mpage_1/key_/anchor/tm.htm#7350999

I'd like to hide the linkage to the ailerons below the wing. I'm going to attempt to do it by slicing open the bottom of the wing to hide the torque rod in there and then putting the original covering back over it.

I also made the ailerons 11" long and replaced the original foam with 1" wide balsa aileron material. I'll post picture of the completed setup when it comes to pass.

BTW, does anyone have a good measurement of the center of gravity on the J3? I was told by the LHS that it is usually 1/3 way back from the leading edge of the wing.
