Hi, I am also considering the electric conversion of the Hellcat. I thought that a SP280 gearded with some light RC equipment would prove to be more than adequate. I suppose a SP400 would provide one with a rocket but I'm a little slower on the sticks.

Haven't started mine yet but it will be fun to build. Some say the Guillow's kits aren't good for RC conversion but I have never had a problem. Most complaints are cause by over-powering, these kits are meant for easy, slow flying hence the SP280 choice.

Good luck and keep us posted, will you?

Best regards,

No, they don't need sheeting just discerning building techniques.

The beauty of these kits are their "stick and tissue" appeal. The lightness this imparts is also desirable.

If one takes the time and has the appropriate skills, these are some of the greatest and prettiest little fliers there are. Take a look at the book "Flying Models" by Don Ross, pages 147-149 for starters and you will see what I mean.

Don't let anyone discourage your choice of this kit, is it PERFECT for scale electric flight. Just don't over-power or over-build it and make it into something it is not. Rubber-powered planes are meant to fly gently through the air, not rocket their way into oblivion. The slow, scale-like speed is most enjoyable to watch.

Have a great 4th.
