That is the good stuff there. Just re-drill the clevis holes right on the hinge line...and cut the rest off.

I have flown a 68" now with three different motors.....YS, Saito, and now a MVVS 1.6 Gasser with carbon tuned pipe..

The MVVS kicks butt royal. It is fantastic. Better than the YS for sure.

9lbs AUW with half a tank of gas. I am doing my last NIB 68" this way. I like it THAT much.

Highway101, I wrote the manual on this plane and I used all the stock hardware in the manual and did not have any issues either. Please post, PM or email me with any questions. Do not get too concerned over a small deviation from the directions and exact geometry as you can be a little off and be fine. Just check over things to be sure they work w/o binding or too much slack, I know that sounds very generalized so if you are in doubt post pictures or ask a reliable club member that actually flies these type planes. Even a very experienced club member can be wrong if they are not used to these type plane setups.
    Jeff

    Dear Jeff,
Thank you for the reply. I did find longer arms from a different Dubro rudder set-up which fit the 6/32 rod and were long enough to put the pivot point exactly over the hinge line. I now get bevel-to-bevel movement of the rudder without any slack developing in either cable. Of course now I have an offset servo arm which I don't need but at least the problem is solved! I will take you up on your kind offer, Jeff, and email you if I have additional questions or comments on the Yak. Cheers,

    Mike

Thanks for asking. My set-up is: Plettenberg XTRA 30-10, Schulze Future 32-55K ESC, Duralite EVO 5s1p 50000ma x2, Hitec 5945 servos all around. Based on posts I found on the F3a forum, I am starting with an APC 22x10 prop. This should deliver around 2000 watts at around 60 amps. I am probably a few days away from having everything ready to do a (quick) static test to confirm the power numbers. Cheers,

    Mike

    Awesome , 101.

One of my spares of this bird (a partially built one) , is hanging at the LHS here that specializes in E-flight. We have been trying to decide what setup . We actually were going to test a prototype counter-rotating twin prop setup on it , just for kicks.

    5s 5k x 2 .......lightning bolts should shoot from it's feathers.......

    Good luck, and safe maiden.

Highway101, hope everything continues to work out. It is a great plane and all the time spent to get a good setup will pay off.

For anyone still following the thread for the "old" Extreme Flight Yak 68":
What must be the only brand-new 68" EF Yak finally had its maiden flight today. I took my sweet time putting it together due to other projects. The final configuration is: Plettenberg XTRA 30-10, Phoenix 85HV ESC, 22x10 APC prop, EVO 10s1p 5000mah battery. Static power was 55 amps and 1904 watts. Futaba PCM receiver, Hitec 5945 servos all around. The plane flew straight without any trim needed. Nine minutes of conservative flight used 2.1 amp-hours from the battery. The plane is beautiful and flies straight - thanks, Chris! I think the buyers of the new 74" EF Yak are going to be very happy. Cheers,

    Mike

Well my 68" Yak is still on the bench, hopfully I'll madien it by the first of the year. It's YS 140 sport powered with the usual hitec servos, running 6v, etc.... I am planning on running low pitched 18 and 19" props. It has extra tall landing gear - I heard that was an electric power option.

Not saying I'll be the last to madien the EF 68 Yak, I am sure there is another out there collecting dust NIB.

I bought the kit from a guy this past spring and been busy all year pattern flying, just had no time to finish her.

I don't have much to do, just the throttle servo, fuel tank and lines and final assembly and trim.

Question - does anybody have an extra set of decals that came with the kit. I didn't get any of the cool scale decals with this plane - maybe they where not orginally included.

Another question: Where are you guys placing the CG ?? I am sure I'll be doing both 3d and general pattern style aerobatics....

It is a really great looking plane, looks great in my shop, I have the 3D video that showcases the plane, awesome flying....

    thanks all, Dean

    Dear Dean,
I started with the CG right at the spar. In the instructions, Chris Hinson says that he likes the CG 1/2" behind the spar. I haven't tried any 3-D yet so maybe a slightly aft CG will be better. I used the "Yak 54" graphics which came with the plane but am not going to use the "Extreme Flight" graphics and logos - I'd be happy to send them to you if you like. Cheers,
    Mike

I finally got a chance to re-maiden my 68" Yak yesterday, flies just like I remember, smooth, responsive......floats way more than I remember though. The landing gear found the only rock of any size at the end of the runway and snapped one side of the gear off. I have been reading through this thread and others all morning, (my boss is gon
