Hey Mike.

I've been trying to match two 5625's on a single aileron on a 33% Bird. I've got the HPF-10 Programmer, with v1.02 software. I reset both servos to factory default using the programmer, and got the geometry just about right using the linkage adjustment, with standard 100% throws (on the transmitter).

The trouble starts when I try to program the outboard servo's center and endpoints to match the inboard one. I start by setting center, then right, then left endpoints, and I hit the Input button, turn off the programmer, and hook up the servo to the extension. The center is usually bang on, but the throws are WAY off - worse than with default setting.

I lost my instruction sheet, but am I doing it in the right order? Do I have to do anything other than hit the 'UP/L' or 'DN/R' button when at the desired endpoint? Whenever I set the center point 2nd or last, the throw in one or both directions is about zero.

Is it valid to adjust one servo with the programmer to match the other servo which is connected to and being driven by the radio channel? Or do I have to program them both individually to match?

KD

The best thing to do is use a jig to mach each servo to the same center and endpoint, not to each other. Without the instructions it is very difficult. I can send them to you. What is your mailing address?

Also don't use an extentions when programming the servos.

Mike.

Ok Mike, call me stupid but what is a jig in this reference. I will be having to do the same thing with the same servos and programmer in near future for a 1/4-scale H9 Cap 232.

Good question, and don't feel , these new technologies make your head spin. Until we get used to them it's ok to ask. If you can get your hands on the August issue of RCM, Jim Oddino has an excellent article on just this very thing! The aforeto mentioned jig is shown on page 78. I made my own about a month ago, but you need to get a large scale protractor. In relation to the article Mike, I now have a couple of questions for you. (1) Is the jig commercially available? (2) In the article Jim makes references to a couple of things I'm hoping you can explain for us. Can you expound a little on the terms, "deadband", "pulse width", and "servo jitter"? I am very interested in the programmer and am sorry if these things were previously beaten to death, but it may behoove you to explain the slew of other things the programmer can do for the average modeler, even if one does'nt own a digital servo. Things such as
manual servo test, measuring pulse width, voltage measurement,
manual and auto endpoint tests etc. This is before you even get to the digital programming functions.
Thanks and take care_bob
