This Ian it's not about locking them on its about the size of the centre hole of the hex and the size of the axle shafts

One of our cars has the metal hex hubs and the other has the plastic hubs.
I just ran a file around the hex until it fitted nice on the wheel.
You shouldn't need to lock them with the grub screw and you can use the old pins no problem.

Hope that helps, let us know if you have any probs Steve, I'm sure me and dus can help.

Sorry, missed that post, bit ill at the moment...... erm, never had a prob with the axle going through the center hole.
Will get vernier out tomorrow and measure just incase.

Yeah man, or go to local model shop for bearings.
You might need to file the hubs a bit to fit onto some wheels though.

I have ordered some bits direct from Bycmo before in Spain and never had probs.

One thing was just thinking about is do you have the uprated white cogs or are they black?

Hi both , I've uploaded a few pics but if you look at the hex in the pic the hole is way to big for the front axle which Is causing the wheel to scrub the wishbone when on full lock :-( , the back ones are sound as a pound ? , Ian I've got the stock black gear box cogs I could do with the white ones :-) , ill give bycmo a go for the bearings and the cogs I think ..

hi steve
there are 2 ways to fix the hexes
one is order the hexes in the link i gave you
measure the center of the shaft where the hex goes
to get the right size they do other colours and sizes
the other is to get a tube of plasticard the right size
for the shaft and the center of the hex and cut to size for the hex
that should work
have you got anything you can think of ian
hope that helps

Hi dus ,

I've measured the axle were the hex would fit and it's 3mm thick , the smallest I can find on the web is a 5mm hole to a 4mm axle which is what I have , do you think the lockable ones would fit any better ? The plasticard sounds good but I haven't got a clue wot it is lol

Right, have checked all our hubs and they are 5mm, checked all axles and they are just under 5mm.
Can't see why you having problem.
Ones on ebay are the correct 5mm hole size.
Not going to insult your intelligence but you still have the original black hub in place in one of the pics.

Hi Ian ,

All is in place and the hubs are 5mm and the axles at the rear are 5mm but on the front axle where the 5mm hexes will sit the axle is below 4mm which gives lots play even with the wheel tightened fully , I've added a spacer between the hex and the hub and it seems to have done the trick .

On the ball now, just had a look and the standard front axles have got a posi drive srew on the inside.

On both our cars we have fitted the rear ones on the front, no probs, been like that for years.

Measured one of the posidrive axles and they are 4mm and have a shoulder.

On certain wheels yes, some wheels are a bit wider.
6R4 rally / rally cross shell, looks right good.

It's not just the wheels being a bit wider it's also the offset, some stick out more, if they are more offset they will be closer to your suspension parts.
