Using the white cogs which do seem to make a hell of a diference to performace.
The 12mm hubs are certainly something I am considering but, as I said, funds are a little low so as I already have 7 wheels other upgrades may take preference over the hub upgrade....although I am also missing one front axle upgrade too so the bearing will be upgraded but the hex hub not...yet!!

Yo Vince and Dus,

Read you wondering about the diffs, well we just fill our diffs with chemical metal, then screw them back together.
You will get much more grip by locking the diff anyway, like a real car with an LSD.
Both wheels grip together.

Have you got any pics of the Bycmo Vince now you fitted the new speed controller?

you don't have to get the expensive alloy hubs, the plastic ones are just as good.

Have got one set of alloy and one set of plastic, plastic ones were a couple of quid, had a look but can't see the same ones that we got at the moment.

What motor are you using? are you using the original silver can 540?

There are lots of motors for good price when you feel you need a bit more speed out of it.

hi all
as ian has said you can lock the diff
there are lost of ways to do this
some are reversible and some are not
it all depends on your own personal preference
if you want to return the car back to standard
at a later date

hi vince
thanks for the photo's
who's the focus belong to ??
WOW that takes me back to building the car
you will still need the shafts
but if you get the ajustable hex ones
you could use either set of shafts
the standard silver ones and the front ones with the phillips head
or the upgraded black ones or a mix
i.e. 3 black 1 silver, 3 silver 1 black or 2 black and 2 silver
the thing with the 12mm hex hubs
is your no longer limited to just the bycmo wheels and a change of tyres
you can change the wheels for any most 10th scale cars run on 12mm hex
you could when funds allow buy a set of real alloy wheels for the real bling look

you should ask ian if it was/is worth taking the plunge with the 12mm hex hubs
as it took me a long time to get him to convert his car but not sure if he thinks its better ro not

hey ian whats your thought on the 12mm hex's

Dus, did mention about the hubs in the other post, get the cheap plastic ones, the metal ones needed filing a bit to fit onto the wheels......well on the set we got anyway.

Good pics there Vince, speed controller is very compact.

Afternoon all

Sorry for the late replies been busy the last few days replastering our dining room

Ian
Yes the motor is still the stock 540
Dus
The Focus is an old Tamiya Quick Drive (QD)
I did take a photo of the shaft on my phione but have left the phone at home today...d'oh. But no worries as you said earlier I can use the original silver on the front and the darker 'upgrades' on the back. But before I can do that I need to find one 10mm hex hub. Looks as if I may need to learn Spanish so I can order directly from Bycmo. Si? Either that of do what you both suggested and bite the bullet and get the 12mm hubs and a new set of wheels

Cheers for now
Vince

hi vince
i think the hex hubs on the bycmo a 6mm made only for bycmo by bycmo
so yes spanish would be a good idea
but depending on how quick you need them
i may have one floating around somewhere
i will have a look later
also
i think i have the black axel
will take a photo of it

hi vince
had a little dig around and BAD NEWS .......

.......i have found this shaft it had the 6mm bycmo hex on it (billy no mates the one on the right all by itself )

i also have drilled out the 12mm hex hubs they are a snug fit
on the shaft now you will still need the pins from your bycmo
there are 3 the same size and one just a bit smaller
but they are all 12mm which will fit standard wheels
let me know what you need

Hi gents

Dus you are a gentleman and a scholar. That picture is just what I am after. How much do you want for the stuff? I can either paypal you or send a SAE to you with cheque/cash. just let me know and I will get the wheels in motion.

Do I want to build the Bycmo from scratch?? There's a question. In the fututre I would like to build A car from scratch but whether that would be the Bycmo I am not so sure. Once we finish the refurb of our house which is eating cash at the moment I would like to get myself something like a Tamiya Mini and build that. To improve my skills on a budget I may convert the QD Focus which is all PCB and hardwired to full rc by adding esc receveiver, etc.

Vince

Was thinking about the Rush for a winter project when the weather gets crap.

Not too hot here mate but pleasant

Have swept the cars under the carpet for a few weeks, getting annoyed with them playing up.

Still need to dust off the Bycmo, we will though I promise.
