Hi guys!

This is one seriously long thread..... but thought I've got an issue with the way my motor seems to mount, along with a couple of other questions.

First of all, I am probably asking something that has probably been said somewhere in this thread, but because it is now astronomically long I thought if I posted up here someone might be feeling kind enough to answer/post which page that answer is on.

Second of all one of the few modifications I have done to date is replace the MSC with an ESC, the ESC is the Tamiya TEU-104 BK, I remember when looking on these forums a year ago that a couple of people used this ESC, but since then there seems to be another 20 odd pages now, hence why I have now registered so I can post.  The second mod I've done is locked the diff gears as everyone else has done, someone on here from memory recommended using Araldite, but for some reason it only works for a while before one of the gear's eventually starts slipping so it become a little like a conventional diff, if that makes any sense.

So my first question is, what should I try instead for locking the diff gears perminantly?

My second question, and perhaps is a little more terminal are the 2 photo's attached down the bottom:

As you can see, the motor and the 2 gear's aern't sitting square, I haven't used this car much because I am worried that over time that gear will just start slipping and I will end up damaging the gears, and I fear that because it's a bycmo and naturally most of them are unloved I won't be able to source any new gears for it, is there any way of fixing this? or should I just leave it as it is?

And last but not least, I think either the original battery pack is just about dead or I need to just buy a better charger/battery pack, I'm still using the original battery and charger gear that De Augustini gave everyone, and it kinda annoys me that I have to wait 10 hours, get about 10 minutes of playtime and then have to wait another 10 hours before using it again.  What are the recomendation's here?

Cheer's guys

hi speedyed
1
there are many ways to lock a diff
you can use hot glue, epoxy to permanently lock the diff
also thread lock will work on the metal gears
if you dont want to permanently lock your diff you could use blutac, playdough or silly putty
if you want to return the diff you just need to remove the blutac and regrease

2
could you take some photo from a side on view both left and right hand sides please

3
have a look on your evilbay under
7.2v fast charger tamiya, 7.2v rc fast charger,

hope that helps
if you want to ever change the wheels on your bycmo
you could do 12mm hex mod that way you can use any 12mm hex wheels
i.e. tamiya, hpi, kyosho ect

Hmmmmm, hotglue seem's like something to try, sure the plastic won't melt though?  As for threadlock on the metal gear's, will loctite 262 do? though I'm not sure that loctite will work, the way loctite works is when you say screw a screw or bolt in when tightening it your squeezing the oxygen out of loctite/where it set's, where as if you just doing that on the metal gear's it might not work properly like that if you get my drift.

I'll take some tomorrow.

I'm assuming when you say "evilbay" you really just mean ebay, I'll have a look, that should definitely help!

Speedy, I fitted the exact same speed controller and it works realy well.
You can get a lower turn motor and it will still run ok, we fitted 18t motor to our  cars.

Dus is spot on, you can use blu tak to see what it's like with the locked diff, you will get much better traction with the locked diff.

Also fast charger, I got an old riko/tamiya fast charger for £10.

Will take an hour to charge a 2500mah battery, it has a timer for an hour so you can't leave it on if you forget you are charging.

I know that the Bycmo with more than standard power has problem with traction to the rear wheels.

That motor doesn't sit right at all..... have you used the correct holes in the chassis?
I wouldn't run that till it's fixed.

When locking a diff permanent I used chemical metal

Something like this will do the job:   http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Riko-AC-DC-12-240V-APM2-Fast-Slow-Charger-Tamiya-/320875817776?pt=UK_ToysGames_RadioControlled_JN&hash=item4ab5b06b30#ht_1438wt_934

What power batteries are you using and are they NIi-cad or Ni-mh?

Hi Mentor's, sorry for the late reply! xD

I've attached the 2 side pictures of the Motor as requested by Dust.

With the 18t Motor, is there anything specific I should be looking for?

The Motor holder bracket is most definitely in the correct holes, I'm thinking that maybe I have something too tight and it's making the thing twist or some ****?

That link helps a lot! Should be easy to find something on ebay cheap and even second hand here in Australia.

The battery's are just the standard "Jetpack" battery's you get with the car, 1600mah Ni-Cd.

Cheer's dudes

hi speedy
can you do a photo of the underside of the chassis
like you have said it could be as simple
as over tight screws thats making it twist
you could try stripping it down and rebuilding it
remove the motor first and see if the motor housing plate goes back straight
if not when you strip it down just check to see if the motor plate is straight
if not try bend it back to straighten it out

Not sure Dus, looks like everything is in the right place.
I'll have a good look at one of our cars tomorrow.

As for motor you can go for those Ansmann racing ones, they seem ok, or Tamiya motors.
I know someone who raves about those Yeah Racing motors.
