Well I have had zero luck in starting my T-maxx. What is the best method of starting one of these trucks? I have an HPI Nitro Star 15 with a pull start right now. I have broken two P/S's and do not see any way of using a drill and one way to bump start it as the shaft sits right behind the rear shock tower and mounting holes for the right bulkhead.

I don't think a starter box will work as there is no access to the flywheel. Please help. And sorry if I sound unknowlegable as I am new to the hobby.

Thanks
Scot

No it only has a pull start. The first time I tried the Pull start spring broke, the senond time the spring came loose, third time the spring came loose on a new pull start and the forth time I was pulling the starter like a demon and all of a suden the pullstarter cord stopped dead. It would not go back in or pull out any further. I think it was a vapour lock cause when I pulled the glow plug out it freed up. Ever heard of that happening before? I have read that some people loosen the glow plug when starting. I wonder if that will help me...

Thanks for your time and help.
Scot

yea that happened to me, loosen it until it starts then tighten it after a little bit. You have bad luck with pull starts like i used to. Dont pull do hard and dont pull it all the way out. Your only supposed to pull it out about halfway prime the engine before you warm the glo plug too but not too much so it floods. You'll eventually get it to turn over

priming it is when you cover the end of the mufller up with your finger and pulling the pull start a few times, do it until you see fuel go into the carb then about 2 times after it enters. You might want to turn the throttle trim up just a little on the controller then when it starts let it idle for a little at then turn it back down to warm the engine up to running temps

I got it started!!!! Thanks again. Now i am having a hard time getting the truck moving. I have no idea about the carb settings. I adjusted the needle and that seems to have gotten it going. I am however getting a think paste coming out of the exhaust like it is not burning all the fuel.Is this normal?

Also when I try and give it gas the truck has only moved back wards (more of a lurch twice).

o.k. you need to lean you fuel needle and adjust your idle speed needle (ISN) then it should run and one of my mottos is

"the instructions are your friends READ'EM"

no offense of course

that paste is the oil, if your just breaking it in then thats good because its lubing your engine up real nice. If its not moving make sure your slipper clutch is on tight, also if its only going in reverse make sure your forward/reverse switch on your controller is put in forward. Sometimes the truck will get stuck in forward or reverse just flip the switch around and it will catch on. Tuning the Trx 2.5 is more of an ART than a skill since its so difficult. Look on the traxxas website for tuning tips, they helped me alot when i had my 2.5
