I am running Omega 15% in my Simple 400, Cox .049, I also run this fuel in everything else I own (bigger engines) Problem is, I want more power out of the small engine. Cox fuel is $9.00 pint! What nitro is it, and could I use something like Traxxas 20% fuel in it. I hear the sport type fuel like I run, has too much lube in it. I don't want to spend a bunch of money buying different fuels. I think the car stuff might have less lube in it, and it's $6.99 qrt. Dorks at local hs say Cox fuel is 45% nitro? Along time ago, Fox Missle Mist was some wicked stuff!

Hi Duane,

Wildcat Fuels makes Cox fuel, it conatins 15% Nitro and 18% all castor. The car fuel has to low an oil content and will ruin the motor. The Cox motors run extermely well on 25% or 30% Nitro with 18% oil which is a blend. We have this blend in quarts for the 1/2-A motors or you can use any simliar boat blend. Make sure it has 18% oil or greater though.

Thanks Jerry, I don't know what oil % this Omega stuff is, and that's what the LHS around the corner carries. My next trip is about 25 miles away, and maybe they sell your fuel there. I really don't want to spend $10.00 for a pint! Thanks again.

I have used SIG 15% CHAMPION in COX .049 engines with good success. It has 20% total oil and runs well. If you need more power, you could get the SIG 25% CHAMPION. It costs a lot less than buying 1/2 A fuel, usually around $13-15 per gallon.

Jerry,

Never tried it (Wildcat Fuel) before, but have been thinking about switching to it. Anything you can tell me about the 30% Heli Fuel ?

Thanks
Jason

It's good stuff Jason. I switched over to it about a year and a half ago. Runs great and is consistant. I had to fiddle with the needles some when I changed but no problems since then. My engines seem to love it.

This is not an optimal fuel for this Cox engine. Omega is is a mixture of castor and synthetic and due to the ball and socket fit of the piston to connecting rod on the Cox engine, castor oil with a good film strength is a better choice of lubricants by far. This engine is happy on 15-30% range of nitromethane, so pick your nitro level you like. I would not recommend folks use a lot of synthetic oil in this engine, it will run okay, just not for long.

Thanks for all the help. I think I found the power problem. I changed the little piece of fuel line around the needle valve, now this thing is incredible! Ace Simple-400, with one of those old plastic backed Cox engines from an old plastic RTF plane, replaced piston/cyl with a Black Widow (found a few at local HS, only $6.95 each, sorry, none left, got them all!) and a 1 1/2oz tank. Flies at least 14 minutes, very fast, no throttle! I am wore out by the time it lands.
