GrahamD1,

In your photo showing the "snakes" installed, it appears that two of them criss-cross in the wing area. Is there a reason for them being set up like this instead of straight?

Rudy , i asked the ownerin an email about a month ago after telling them what great kits they have . I asked him if they were considering a P40 and they said yes for the fall . They woudl possibly be releasing a p40 in the 64 to 65 inch range that can be built in differant versions .
These kits are the only ones I will touch outside of ARF s

Thanks guys

The retracts are as suplied Spring airs, but yes the robarts will fit, but you may have to house the air tank in the fuz, as the wing was designed around the smaller spring air tank.

I know the snakes look strange, but the reason is so that they end up at the rear and the servos in the correct place, the rudder has two snakes, one elevator and one for the tail wheel.

The kit P-40 surprices me, as they dont make run of the mill models, hence the TBM, SBM and Val. I know the 109-G is due in the fall, along with a rather nice IL-2.

I dont think the P40 will be run of the mill , they sound like they will give you options of the B thru F versions, they dont do run of the mill on anything

Cracked on and got the fuz sheeted, and the wings aligned into the front former.

The 2nd picture shows the box assembly that will hold the firewall, this can then be slid in and out to get the correct position for that great looking ally spinner.

Heres that sliding engine mount box assembly, its cute, you just slide it back and forth till you get the correct measurement so the spinner will be a snug fit, also gives me somewhere to put the throttle servo.

This is coming along nicely. I will look a little closer at Skyshark kits, as they seem to go together easily and look very nice. Do they fly well? Quality seems good from what I can tell. I look forward to seeing this one finished.

Nice 109! I've had a thing for 109's since I was 5! I bought the kit, I haven't started on it yet. I'm redoing a p-47 & then repainting my Stuka (skyshark kit). Then, at long last on to my 109!

I thought I would share my findings.

I've done a little research since I got my kit, I didn't like the idea of using smaller wheels. I ordered the BVM Mig 15 wheels, 4" dia. & 7/8" thick! That is 1/8" smaller width than the Robarts used by Mike on the prototypes. They also look correct & come with brakes. I haven't recieved the yet.

www.bvmjets.com

I also found my 1/6 scale pilot for my 109. I ordered it today.

http://www.badcataviation.com/lupi16scbybb.html

I've turned over a lot of other interesting things I plan on using. If anybody wants to know, PM me & I'll make a list.

Again, your plane looks great! Good luck (although, it dosen't look like you need it)

Mike T.

Hi Mike.

I have the same pilot (thats him in the picture above), I must admit the wheels are the biggest problem, the BVM mig ones look cool.

I'm just finishing painting mine at the moment, the UK is having the wettest summer known for years, and as I spray out of doors, it has to be in between showers

I thought the that was the same pilot. I'll give you the low down on the Mig wheels when they get here. They aren't cheap, but I've searched the world. They are all I came up with. My only other option, Bryan Taylor shows how to make the scale wheels & tires on his 109 plans.

Can't wait to see that paint job!
