Status: online 		Very nice shots and great looking plane , congrats . Can you or another modeler stand next to this plane for size comparison . Just curious , on how big it appears , I think i read it was 62 or 66" span ?

Anyway good luck I hope you get years out of this bird

Status: offline 		Wish i was as patient and as skillful handyman as you all are. I am planing on the ARF(HAHAHAHA) and thats still a lot of work for me. But I guess you get that good when you are in the hobby for a while. I've been in it for about a year now. I am a better builder than flyer. I am planning on the Kyosho Messerschmitt .40-.46 ARF with retracts. Can't wait to get it in the air with an OS 46AX. Your project looks magnificent.

Status: online 		Thought I would try to liven up the thread as I'll be putting this plane together soon and am wondering about power for it. I'll be using Spring Air's, flaps, paint, etc. and am wondering if, provided I fly it in a scale-like manner, a 1.08 is simply out of the question as it appears from the plans that it will fit pretty easily in the engine compartment. Seems like the plane will probably be right about 10lbs, like my old Pica 190 that I wished had a .90 instead of the .61 that was in it. Should I simply buck up and get a .75 or a .90? The 1.08 is brand new, and I would love to have some power to pull it through some big loops pretty easily, nothing more. The 190 hadn't a chance at doing that at 9.75lbs with a .61 in it. What's been the experience with the plane? It sure does look fantastic. I agree with others. I've built many planes from different manufacturers and the quality of the fiberglass parts and rest of the kit is as good as any I've seen.

Status: offline 		I have the Saito 100 in mine with spring air retracts and 3/8" oleo struts. It is a perfect match and has PLENTY of power. I fly it with half throttle.

Status: offline 		Hello all warbird fans. I am currently wanting to get into building warbirds. I have flown a few ARF ones but never built one. I have moderate to good building skills with a few trainer and .40 sport planes under my belt. I was wondering if this is a relativly easy bird to build. It dosent have to be a cake walk but I just dont want to get into something that takes an expert builder with 30+ years under his belt to put together. Also I was wondering how long this kit will be in production? I know many companies run kits for only so long. Any info would be great. Thanks, Jon

The Skyshark 109 kits are not difficult to build at all.

If you have made it this far in life and can read and follow simple instructions and use CA glue without bonding yourself to the work bench.
Then you CAN build this kit. And I think you'll have fun doing it too.

The finish was applied with a touch up gun I got from Wal-Mart of all places.
I used Warbirds Colors paints and will do so from now on as long as they are available.
If I decide to do weathering and such I'll go ahead and use my badger airbrush.
As it is now its a nice looking solid flyer to take to warbird meets and races.

Thanks for the words of wisdom. I have about 5 builds under my belt and I cant wait to take this one on. It is a good size plane and the link to the photo of your has inspired me to build a great looking kit. I have lots of background with buildng, painting, and weathering static models. I LOVE to work with my airbrush and I notice skill very easy and you got it man. What a great looking bird. What do you power yours with? I have a Saito 100 sitting in the shop and I think I might use it to power the beast. One more question. Do you know how long this kit will be in production from SS? I have a few projects going right now and they have set me back a little bit on my R/C budget but I will make room for the kit if it is only going to be produced for a little while longer. The Saito 100 should be more than adequate for the SS 109.
I am using a YS 1.10 and its really a bit more than it needs.

As to how long the Skyshark product line will be available, I can't say. You'd have to be able to predict the future to answer that.

Go ahead and get the kit as soon as you can so you have it when you're ready to build it.

Status: offline 		The SS Me 109 was a quick build and looks great on the ground and in the air. My two cents...make sure you have a good flat spot ground on the ele joiner for the ele bellcrank. Also use the springair air tank for the retracts, the robart will not fit in the ribs. radio installation is a little tight, but manageable. These are not complaints, I love my Me109, just helpfull hints from Uncle Phil. Good luck!
