grahamd1 -> Skyshark ME109-E Build (Now Flying) (6/7/2004 1:57 PM)

Well after waiting some time, I finally got a delivery this morning of my 109-E, wow was it ever worth the wait.
This is the first kit that skyskark have replaced the ABS parts for real GF moulded ones, and what a difference that will make not only to the build but also the longevity of the model. I love the supplied scale Ally spinner, what a nice touch.

Latter today, I'll start putting this puppy together and upload the progress.

grahamd1 -> RE: Skyshark ME109-E Build (6/7/2004 6:27 PM)

Tail and aileron sections now complete

DocYates -> RE: Skyshark ME109-E Build (6/7/2004 7:10 PM)

I got my kit on Friday as well, can't wait to see your progress. I won't start mine for a while, but it is sitting here ready to go.
Tommy
PS Keep us posted.

P-51B -> RE: Skyshark ME109-E Build (6/7/2004 7:28 PM)

I'm excited about this thread!

Haven't ordered mine yet, but I will be!

grahamd1 -> RE: Skyshark ME109-E Build (6/7/2004 8:21 PM)

Well so far I very impressed and delighted with the kit.

Heres the stab (about 30 minutes inc sheeting one side).

Wulfman -> RE: Skyshark ME109-E Build (6/7/2004 8:48 PM)

I will also be watching this build with interest! I ordered the 109E, but changed my mind, and asked Mike to put my payment toward the 109G kit that is coming out later this summer. I am sure much of the construction will be the same.

Do you have a paint sheme chosen yet?

Engine?

grahamd1 -> RE: Skyshark ME109-E Build (6/8/2004 5:30 PM)

No definate choice made yet as for the final scheme, so if anyone wants to chip in, feel free.

Heres the stab now sheeted and tip blocks etc added.

grahamd1 -> RE: Skyshark ME109-E Build (6/12/2004 12:36 PM)

Started building the wings the other night (took me 35 minutes to get to this stage, one wing panel part sheeted)

MANFRED -> RE: Skyshark ME109-E Build (6/12/2004 2:27 PM)

Great looking plane but man am I getting tired of that stupid bunny ad. That is the worst!

SBR_RV -> RE: Skyshark ME109-E Build (6/12/2004 3:10 PM)

i agre with MANFRED.

grahamd1 -> RE: Skyshark ME109-E Build (6/12/2004 5:48 PM)

Having sheeted one side of one wing panel, it was time to install the wheel wells and retract pipes, before sheeting the bottom of the panel. Once this was complete the other wing panel was built and again the top sheeted.

(I cant do anything about the bunny advert, nothing to do with me, I just buy the models)

HUMMERH3 -> RE: Skyshark ME109-E Build (6/12/2004 7:00 PM)

just wondering...HOW do you keep your work space soooo clean!!!!

Yeah!, share your secret[;)]

grahamd1 -> RE: Skyshark ME109-E Build (6/13/2004 5:34 PM)

Finished sheeting the wings, outer panels and inner, top and bottom.

I've left one strip off over the centre section where the retract tank and pipes go, so I can install the retracts latter.

grahamd1 -> RE: Skyshark ME109-E Build (6/13/2004 8:40 PM)

Having sheeted the wings, it was time to pin the plan in place over the bottom of the wing, and using a sharpe pin, marking the outline of the classic Tulip shaped wheel bays.

Are you thinking of something more like this:

This is what the others consider scale:
;

P-51B -> RE: Skyshark ME109-E Build (6/14/2004 1:45 AM)

This is what we consider scale;

Richard L. -> RE: Skyshark ME109-E Build (6/14/2004 2:32 AM)

Nice [:D]

Joe Ortiz -> RE: Skyshark ME109-E Build (6/14/2004 2:32 AM)

I'll go with what we consider scale[:D]

grahamd1 -> RE: Skyshark ME109-E Build (6/14/2004 8:23 PM)

Heres the fuz, being built and then sheeted

photoniq -> RE: Skyshark ME109-E Build (6/15/2004 12:37 AM)

Is this a good kit for someone who has never built a kit before (only done 1 ARTF trainer so far myself - and got someone else to make my super sportster 40). I really want ot make a kit and i want to make a scale one at that (probably will have a go at glassing too).

Cheers,
photoniq.

SpitfireMKI -> RE: Skyshark ME109-E Build (6/15/2004 4:06 AM)

Looks like a crackin' kit ! I'm really thinking an electric conversion with some litho's in it. The thought of glow goo all over that sweet body kinda bums me out !

Unfortunatley you do have a problem............. You're on the wrong side of the channel to be in a one ooohhh niner ! Spits ! Mind your bum !

Keep up the great work man !

S1

grahamd1 -> RE: Skyshark ME109-E Build (6/15/2004 6:54 PM)

electric might be a good option.

Heres the fuz with the remaining formers added, and the snakes installed (all 5 of them)

LDM -> RE: Skyshark ME109-E Build (6/15/2004 8:06 PM)

I said it before , but there lazor cutting is second to none , I cant wait for the release of there P40 kit in the fall

rrudytoo -> RE: Skyshark ME109-E Build (6/15/2004 9:08 PM)

LDM,

Skyshark is coming out with a P-40 kit? I know about the ARF. What do you know about a kit?

grahamd1,

I am VERY impressed with this thread! Thank you for the good info and great pictures. It is my first exposure to Skyshark's stuff and I like their work. I'm looking forward to their Bf-109G this fall.

What retracts are you using? I have a set of Robart 606HD 85 degree retracts. Do you think they would fit?

Keep the info coming and I look forward to your future installments.

Al
