How do you up the amp setting clockwise or counterclock?
When do you adjust the setting mode 1, mode2 or 3.
I got kokam 3s 1500mah how how much C I should set it while charging?

Juddee

The instruction manual can't be more clear, and the operation of the charger can't be more simple. Please, for your safety, carefully read the instructions over several times, and make sure you understand them BEFORE you try to charge the batteries.

If you don't have instructions, get them.

Also, be sure when you are finished charging that you rotate the knob counterclockwise back to zero. This will eliminate any sparking when you hook up your batteries. It will also make sure if you hook up a pack with a lower mAh rating that you don't try to push to many amps into it. There is a safety shutdown, but I like to play it safe. I am building a new plane that will take a 10s4p pack. Actually two 5s4p packs, and I am purchasing another 109 so that I can charge each pack seperately, and not have to wait as long at the field. If you read, the amperage goes down on the 109 as the Number of cells goes above 5 or 6.

I forgot to answer your question. On your 1500mAh Kokam you would want to set it for 1.5Amps!

I have a question on what appears to be a slang term used with the LiPO batteries.

People refer to charging at a 1C rate, but no one ever defines what "C" is.

These leads to the question, does "C" have units, or is 1C simply slang for 1/100 capacity since C is the roman numeral for 100?

The term "C" has been around as long as we have been using rechargable batteries.

It is defined as follows (Per the Classic volume on rechargable batteries " General Electric Nickel-Cadmium Battery Application Handbook - Third Edition -1986)

"C designates the declared rated capacity of a cell (battery). All cell charge/discharge current is specified in terms of a multiple of C. (For example the 0.1C or C/10 current for a 1.2 amp-hour rated cell is 120 mA.)

Think of it this way. What ever size the battery is, whether it is 200mAh or 3000mAh, that is the "C" for that battery. You should never charge that battery at anything higher than 1 times its C. If it is rated at 2000mAh you can charge it at any rate up to 2000mAh but you should never go over. This is where so many people shoot themselves in the foot and either kill their battery, or burn them up.

Just got a Astroflight 109 and I am very impressed. All you have to do is watch the screen as it does its thing and you'll know that it knows what it's doing! If you can find one, buy it! It's worth every penny! With the cost of Lipo packs, it's a small price to pay to keep from cooking your batteries.

Unlike the "Other" charger that I bought that was SUPPOSED to do it all, but instead smoked the first Lipo Pack that I ever bought....about $75.00 down the drain! I'm still chapped about that!
