(7/10/2002 8:50:37 AM) Someone who lives in Alaska has problems keeping his engine up to operating temp. One of Clarence Lee's suggestions is to add 10% gas, as in unleaded fuel for your car. Is this safe? How does this effect performance? What's the operator mortality rate?

downunder-RCU -> Check out Clarence Lee's column in the latest RCM! Add unleaded gas to glow fuel? (7/11/2002 7:49:59 AM) Petrol (gas) has been mixed with glow fuel from maybe back in the 1950's. At that time it was used to increase range for C/L team racing because petrol has a much leaner fuel/air ratio. The leaner mixture combined with less internal cooling would most likely make an engine run hotter. I know Clarence Lee has just made a sudden backflip with his thoughts on acetone in fuel, it seems he's used some of the info I have in the web page I do for my club plus some other reading he's been doing.
