Quick question reapers

Have you sanded your canards to section or left square at trailing edge, I have been told that leaving square can reduce the chance of flutter?? I intend on leaving mine square any problems with this?

PS SALMONBUG looks good, like to see it with canopy on

Smuttley,

Interesting post, I've had some flutter problems and have always finished off the trailing edge down to a sharp edge. Perhaps others might comment on how their canards are?

after having read a lot the aerodynamic forum for one year, it apear that the opinion around the "to round or not to round" is 50 procent each.

mine are rounded, but my canard is carrefully balanced and the hinge gap is sealed with tape

a bit more patience to see it with hatch and canopy, they are in the paint room

Salmonbug,

Yeah I used almost every slot in my 9 channel receiver setting up my Reaper. Regarding my canard flutter, at full throttle down the runway they were flapping like a humming bird. My fourth set this time has a little less then 1/2oz of weigth in each counter balance tip. I'm hoping this might resolve my issue. It flies fine at anything below 3/4 throttle and I'm mostly using 1/4 to 1/2 during my flight.

good news, I finished the pneumatic plumbing and it keep 120 psi for 3 hours, no leaks it's always nice to know, either if you have springloaded down failsafe gear

my battery setup is as follow

1 2400mah 7 elements for starter and pump (conected to fadec) and two 1700 mah 6 volts battery for the receiver, dual switch. One is set in the battery plug of the receiver, the other is conected to the receiver with a Y conector on one of the canard servo (I did that because I had no more free port on the receiver available.

this simple dual battery setup (using two comon switch) is recomanded on rcbatteryclinic.com and Red is a guy I thrust in

My fadec is positioned in front of the tank, meaning i have extension wires on RPM and temp sensor.

the rpm sensor didn't like that and showed a residual rpm of 5000 RPM when switching on radio system . If this hapen to you, here is the solution

ferites around the wire is not a solution

a 16v 470 uF capacitor mounted in paralel with the hall sensor was the solution (this work with espiell hall effect sensor fadec, maybe not for everybody)

my reaper is completed, except for some paint job on the two hatch

tomorrow, I will make a check of all the system(including turbine) in the garden.

A fellow will come with a cam, I hope to be able to show the great moment of my first jet taxi and brake test
