My friend and I have been kicking around the idea of cutting a foam PBF. He had suggested making a flat bottom airfoil and tappering the bottom for a dihedral effect. Then came up the idea for a full flying rudder. I told him to cut it out, hold my beer, and watch this!

You're welcome!
But don't you think that using a $5 airplane to justify buying a new computer radio is stretching things just a little bit?

Sorry Hacker, I thought you were taking off with it too. With that setup you can bring it in nose high and it will just flop down on the gear. Much easier on props.

Why use a comp. radio in a PBF? Not only will it teach you how to use the new radio, but it is also a perfect showcase for such features as elevons, expo, dual rates, etc. It's so simple that it will not only teach you a great deal about 3D but also comp. radio features.

No, I don't have a computer TX yet. I have a bunch of FM & AM sets so thats where I am at.
I am going heli next june so I will have a computer TX then.

Right now I don't have the heart to ask my wife to order me a mixer even though they are cheap.
She just ordered my son & I over $200 worth of nitro truck parts for our Duratrax Maximum ST's. We have a pair of em.

I will let all know how she flies. Hopefully Sunday will be a flying day. I spent all day today moving snow. Only got 18" so far.
Now that its all cleaned up, its too dark to do a maiden flight.

LOL

I would mow it if I thought it would do any good. LOL

I ended up using a bucket loader. Oh, I did get down to the grass in a couple of (oops) spots. LOL

Just built PBF and it is great. First flight had it into a hover then crash. Second flight, 5 loops 4 ft off the ground then crash. third flight, inverted flight could not flip it back so again crash.

When I brought it out for the first time a guy told me he would sell me a man hole cover if I thought that my PBF would fly. It matched all your comments.

Thanks for the cheap fun!

This is one of the best things about Bluecor as well as Coroplast.

Cheap planes, cheap repairs.

Toywizard,
your flying pic looks like a post card, good job. glad your "fomie"flew well. you might want to think about making your next one out of chloroplast. i have crashed mine at least 25 times, none the worse for the wear. it really is amazing, some of the crashes were REALLY hard...dust it off put on a new prop, fly.
had to go home early today---ran out of props.

I think I have figured out how to save you from breaking props. The landing gear I have installed is a single wire that comes forward in front and below the prop. Now the wire will absorb the impact and save the prop. I crashed 8 times today and I still have the same prop. I had to reshape the wire every time but it is sure is cheaper than a prop.

I have an FP 40 with a 9X4 and it seems to work great. It is probably 8 1/2 after setting up to hover to low over the runway.

Do you have a pic of your landing (prop saving) gear?

I saw one several posts back that I think will help me. It was 3/32 piano wire and came out at the ends of the coroplast. Kind of a 24" span between wheels.

I think I need a set on both sides. LOL

You can go to
www.ebay.com

and do a search for "pizza box flyer" in the radio control section.

BUt honestly, they are real easy to build. After you have done one, the rest will be easy.

You can also do what I did and use Bluecor foam.

Boogerboy does not seem to have a website. I find it a little odd.

http://search-desc.ebay.com/search/search.dll?MfcISAPICommand=GetResult&query=pizza+box+flyer&cgiurl=http%3A%2F%2Fcgi.ebay.com%2Fws%2F&ht=1&from=R10&currdisp=2&itemtimedisp=1&st=2&SortProperty=MetaEndSort&srchdesc=y&BasicSearch=

If you can select it all, this is a link to the page in ebay.

I got one of these to just get started. I used some of the hardware and the instructions but my own foam instead of the coroplast. I can always use that later.
Good luck.
