hehe, good on you Tommy :-)

Im still waiting for my retract struts :-(
I cant realy come much further.

I have already chipped mine a few places, but I have just touched up the paint with some hombrol green paint. It almost matches.

Thanks for the review WOODY. VERY NICE!!! In the review of the ZERO the person said he had a problem with installing the elevator.
He sais that the kits now come with a ADDENDUM rectifying the problem with the elevator.
**Has anyone have or seen this ADDENDEM on the elevator??** Anyone know what the addendem on the elevator is about???
SJN-have you had any problems with installing the elevator??
I plan on using a 1.08 or a Webra 1.20 2-stroke for power.
A .91FX would be O.K. but its just not enough power for me, I like to have it a little over powered to get out of any touble, low fast fly bye`s and so on.

No adendums with my kit..... I have no trouble with my elevator. Works as it should, and no hassle at all installing them.

Yeah, I thought it was a but slack, but these guys are churning them out month after month (what a job eh, and getting paid to do it!) and sometimes have to rush things and take shortcuts to meet the editors demands.

The models they review they usually get to keep but, then just flog them off as soon as the review is submitted.

I have a friend who is a reviewer for a competing Oz mag and he keeps very few of the models he does reviews for.

As he says."most are really not my cup of tea but hey, it helps the pays the bills!"

I read in a thread on the GSP Hellcat, that the paint on GSP models is not the most fuel proof in the long term. Anyone out there can comment on this?

Might be best to hit it with some "Lusterkote" Clear.

I have the GSP-HELLCAT too. I have about 15-flights on it. The paint holds up good, and is fuel proof, but the only area thats a problem is the tail area.
The tail area(elevator+rudder) get hit the most with gas and oil and soaks in to the paint+fabric after awhile.
Its hard to remove it all after awhile.
Not a big deal but you would need to clean it well after landing.
YES,I would mist the whole plane before flying it with Lusterkote flat Clear.
I have done this with my GSP-Spitfire and GSP-FW-190 and works great, wipes right off(also helps with paint chipping off).

Great if you're going for the "dirty" look.
Has anyone else "weathered" their gsp/flair models? I simply took an B6 pencil to the panel lineson my Spit and rubbed. And wow, what an effect and difference. Has transformed the plane IMHO looks stunning. Pics dont do it justice, but i can try if y'all want to see.

I ordered my Zero today. Going to power it with a Laser 100 4 stroke, which I will order from Laser when Neil Tidey gets back from the Scale World Championships
Got the same engine effortlessly powering a GSP P26.
Like SJN, I did substitue the supplied engine mounts for an Isometric Engine Mount on the P26. Stops the fibreglass fuselage from rattling.
Will do the same on the Zero when I start construction.

DocYates ....any chance of getting a pic of how you did your cockpit?

I just bought one of these off that huge online auction sites for $220, what kind of retracts and struts are you guy's using? I have a OS 1.08 just sitting here waiting for a home.....I think that will be enough umph.

Thanks.

The guys in Europe seem to favour Euro Pneumatic Retracts.
I am going to use an Oz manufactured unit, "Custom Retracts." (also pneumatic.)
I guess in North America you would have to look at Spring Air or Robarts.
Certainly a good quality Pneumatic set.
SJN reports that the supplied main wheels are 75 mm, or 2.96 inches (call it 3 inches) if that info is any help.

Perhap I should put this into a seperate thread, but since we have a good one going here, what the heck.

I read in a R/C magazine report on a Trade Show that the editor recently visited, that GSP are going to release a 1.20 sized AT6, same dimensions as the Midwest Kit and an upgraded P47, probably a P47D "Razorback." He also said that a large scale ARF B24 was in the process of being developed by an unnamed manufacturer.
