There was an advertiser in RCM years back (77-84)?? or at least thats the last I think I saw it advertised. But it was in a brown color scheme and was fairly good size .60 up or maybe even a 1/4 scale, I think it was either BUSA or Procter. But iw was a nice older style AC with a parasol wing and a two place'er
and I cant remember the name or who kitted it for sure.

Anything ring a bell to you guys, I dont think it was a Bueker or the one procter has now on thier web page. Shure like to remember the name so I could look for one.

there was a plane called the 'Deweyville special' made by Orline from the era and it has a parasol wing and was a .60 size. It looks like an old 1930's style plane but believe it had only one seat.

Art Thank's

You are correct once again, sorry bout the bad memory though"

I was searching the AMA digi's of old issues (man on dial up thats a slow process) found it by Simcoe and then finally Orline, its not a two placer but rather two models the Jr. and the larger version.

But that is one I have liked and now I can look around a bit, is Orline still in business??

PS; Scotty was also known as Gil Schade (spelling) just a little south of north edwards'

I here ya on the memory bit!!!!! Orline has been out of business for a very long time, sorry. The reason I knew what you were talking about is because I have the large one waiting on a shelf in my shop. These kits are hard to find now and command a good price so I wish you luck.

Thank's Art

If I find a good set of plans that would work too, but thanks for getting me back in the right direction.

The wood quality on Orline kits wasn't the best and the die cutting certainly left a lot to be desired but they had some really neat designs. Shame that no one ever picked them up, cleaned them up, and re released them.

I agree with you, sure would be nice if some one did. The thing I haven't figured out though is with todays technology why the prices on kits are so high, it has to be faster to CNC, laser etc. It takes far less time and a lot less manpower to produce kit after kit now, after all is put into a program the repetition has to be more efficient.

I would like to find the actual ad on the deweyville, the only ones I have found so far are the sketch type. The one I remember was like a root-beer brown color and was a photo/glossy, and ran for a long time in RCM. unless I'm losing it again and the one I am thinking of is a Petienpol (spelling) and i'm just confused, but the Dewey' is still one I had wanted to acquire

If I get a chance tomorrow I'll try and take a shot of my Dewey as I remember it being cream colored, could be wrong as it has happened in the past!

House of Balsa made the Petenpaul in both a 1/2 a size and as an 80" scale model in the late 70's and early 80's. I had both and they were the typical great HOB kits.

Dennis Thanks

I have had a few HOB kits and enjoyed them, do you remember if the 80" version had the color ad or??
Art is correct about the cream color of the Dewey' I think, so as I am finding more info I realize it may not be the Dewey afterall.

I realy like the older parasal winged birds though, and it would not hurt to gain the knowledge on those offered earlier.
But I have to admit I am more than confused and now realy doubting my memory. if I could find the advert in an older RCM I'd know for sure, thats the only mag I subscribbed to back then.

But Thanks Guy's all is appreciated"

Hey 'Boots,
Ya got me going ! So I go diggin in the basement and found it !
From: Vintage Model Aircraft - Phoenix Az. Postmark on the box looks like June 1968.
"HEATH PARASOL" Single Channel or FF .049-.09 mills !!! 45" wingspan. I guess should
do it and make it electric, would be a blast !! I loved seeing them at airshows with the many different type of engines, IE Model "A" etc.
FYI

Balsa USA used to make a kit of a plane you described called the Tempo II. I built and flew 2 of them. they were powered by K&B .40. Heck, I think I still have the plans.

Hey Old Boots , Back in the late 60's or 70's RCM had a plane published called a PD Parasol . I built one back then ,about a 60" wing span if I remember right . Had a Enya .19 in it , barely flew but I was a beginner & it was a fun plane . Would be great now with one of the .30 size 4-strokes. RCM probably has the plans yet. MAX H.

Thank's Guy's for the tips, and I will check them out too"

Max its great to see you more active and still trying to help with all your experiance, hope the health issue has improved"
I may be needing a couple of K&B 40s for future projects, I'll check with later on those.

Guys I appreciate all the help and suggestions, and I hope to find the one I'm thinking of just to satisfy myself I'm not loosing it

Wornboots,
The RCM P.D.Parasol Plan #413 60" span, 545sq" 19-25 2c power 4Ch listed in RCM 12-69. I bought the plans back in the 80s and powered it with an OS 40 4stroke. If I remember it flue very well and sounded great with the 4stroker. RCM still lists the plan for 8 bills.

Cheers

Remember, Always look after the ORGANIC part of the model.
