I have a wing covering question. If you seal the middle of the wing and then the outboard section, how do you get a good straight cut for the top material on the leading edge. I don't know if I explained this well, but the top covering on the leading edge is very difficult to get a straight cut, and if you don't it looks like crap with two different colors on the top and bottom.

I don't seal from the inside out. Usually, (unless it's a trim piece) there is only one or two critical edges. Those are the edges you want to seal first (or at least to tack down first)

The videos are part of the Great Planes P-38 review. Click on the link below. It will bring you to the RCU Magazine Profile 38 review. Scroll down the review to the part where it's time to cover it. The 3 videos are listed there

thanks alot for the videos, now I have an idea how to cover the wing tips. (I can only now think of the many rolls of covering i would have used) Maybe I can get that plane in the air now
big question?? I just stripped a worldmodel mustang p51. I have tried to take the hinges out of the ailerons, rudder, elev. they are very well glued in. Is there a way to cover this parts without taking them out. thanks.

Yes, but it's tricky.
You'll have to slide a strip of covering up through the gap. Because the hinges are in the way, you'll have to do some patchwork to get the whole hinge area covered.

For some reason, maybe I'm just blind, but the covering videos are gone from the review. I did watch them b4 so I know where they were in the review. It just shows the box that says you included the bonus videos. Just thought you might like to know, or as I said maybe I'm just blind. I wanted to watch the wingtip vid again. But no big deal. I watched it last week and I have Faye Stilley's book on covering, 1st & second edition. Wish me luck Joe Oh crap I almost forgot to ask. I have wingtip lights installed (Curtek), any tips for that would be appreciated. I have an idea what I'm going to do though. I'll have a cigg and a beer, and if no one responds by then, well I'll just have at it Here's a pic, and yes I know, its probably sticking out a little bit too far, but its stuck now and I don't want to ruin it. Thanks, Joe

Well after a six pack and about 5 ciggs of waiting,,,, just kidding have to work tomorrow. I did it. I just cut a little slot and strechted the covering over the light, and then covered the wingtip. Came out nice for an amature Time to go to bed. Like Faye says in his book, if you get frustrated or tired, put it down & come back later. Tomorrow I'll finish the leading and trailing edge, then run over it all with the heat gun to remove any wrinkles. This covering stuff is a piece of cake,,, not really, plus this is only the bottom left of one wing. It takes patience, thinking in advance, research and a bit of time BTW in case anyones interested. I'm making a Chicago Cubs theme for my Piper Cub. Get it? Piper "Cub" One thing though. I had about 3" of extra covering over the wingtip, and it might have been too much. The "extra" ultracote on the wingtip started to shrink, and crumple and stick together, which was a bit frustrating when using the heat gun. Anyway, once trimmed, it came out nice, for an amature. Practice, Practice and MORE practice.............. Joe

I have the "No Heat" stuff but there are no directions on the bottle. Believe it or not. Go figure, roll-on antiperspirant has directions and shampoo has directions on the bottle but not the "no heat". How does this stuff work. Do I put it on and squeegee it out like on window tinting?
