Status: offline 		Here's my Great Planes Venus II ARF. I converted it to electric and re did the covering job. It's all MonoKote. I drew the blue stripes in AutoCAD and cut them on our laser cutter at work.

My brother who is a professional photographer and owns his own business took the photos.

I've had this in the box for years and decided to build it this past Fall. Ultracote covering, ST 45 with pipe and Mac's header. Guidance by Futaba with digital servos.

I wanted to do the "Good n Plenty" candy motif but the inve$tment in vinyl graphics was re-directed to other projects, lol...

Status: offline 		Seeing as how I haven't contributed to this thread in a while...Here's my GP Extra 300 I built and covered earlier this winter/spring. Probably have 30 or 40 flights on her by now. Flys fantastic with a Saito 125 up front. Hitec 475 all around, with a 645MG on the rudder. I tail mounted the servos which left all sorts of room in the plane for a smoke system. Only lead added was a 1/2 oz to the left wing for lateral balance. It's all covered in Monokote, including the lettering (machine cut there, I'm not that good with a #11!).

Status: offline 		Maybe this would be a good place to ask about Solartex. I'm a long-time builder but have not used this material before. I have used 21st. Century fabric.
Is it necessary to seal the edges with clear dope? It was helpful with 21C fabric.
The instructions say it is fuel-proof and can be cleaned with soap and water. Balsa USA suggests "polyurethane for easy cleanup." Anybody have experience with this?

I have found Solartex much easier to use then any of the film coverings. It is wise to seal any joins with clear nail polish or the like. It isn't mandatory to spray a light coat of clear on Solartex as it is sealed but the clear makes it much easier to clean off the oil residue if you are running a nitro motor. With petrol (gas), or electric there would be no reason to finish with clear.

scoring takes place on three levels..

C. Points for club participation...
each club member's points garnered for the "season" will be added to all other club members points...
the club with the most points takes home bragging rights for the season...

Status: offline 		I use Ultracoat just love the stuff! The best tip to keep your covering jobs looking good and shiney is to use a iron sock on the iron. Any iron puts swirl marks into the plastic film that never comes out a sock will prevent this.
