I'm going to be getting a YS 53 and I read that they recommend 20% oil in the fuel. The ? is can I add castor oil to Omega cool power to bring the oil content up to 20%, or should I avoid castor in these engines. I don't have access to YS 20/20 or any other fuel with 20% synthetic oil content. Is there a synthetic oil like Klotz or such that I can safely add to The Omega synthetic fuel to bring the oil content to 20%. Thanks to all that respond

I've used every kind of fuel on the market. Allways bringing the oil to 20%. The trouble comes with the nitro. You have to use at least 20%. The best I've found is 30%, It gives you a good Idle and just a bit more power

The ? is can I add castor oil to the cool power omega fuel with out problems on the YS 53, or can I add a synthetic like Koltz and have it mix well with the synthetic fuel in the Omega Cool Power.

I buy any brand with 15 % nitro, complete to 20% the oil percentage with sinthetic Castrol oil ( for kart runners) and of course the nitro percentage total falls a little.
No problem, my YS´s 120 run great!!

YS 20-20 blend is $13.00 per gallon or $4.00 a quart, if you buy quarts you do not have to pay hazardous freight.

Their regular blends are 18% synthetic 2% castro in a wide range of nitro%

You do not want to run more than 1% or 2% castor in a YS engine, I think Omega's oil content is mostly castor and would not be a good choice.

If you do not want to order by mail find a shop that sells heli fuel.

Good luck,
Tim

Tim the pink Omega is 60% synthetic and 40 % castor 17% total oil content. I ran the engine today with the Cool Power Omega which is 17% synthetic oil. I added 3% Koltz Techniplate, which is a blend of synthetic and castor. Don't know what the % is for the Klotz but I'm sure that I would not be exceeding the the 1 or 2% castor that you recommended. As you may of guessed I don't have a manual for the YS, but I was able to get the engine running pretty good. Another ?, maybe kind of dumb , how do you purge the pressure from the tank when you refuel. I was running the 53 on a stand. When I tried to refuel I had fuel coming out the carb. Thanks for your advice! Craig

Craig,
I believe you can download a manual from the YS web site.

I do not know why you have fuel coming out your carb. I do know you need to have a check valve in your return line, and you need to remove the return line (on the tank side of the check valve ) first before refueling. That will remove the pressure from the tank and you won't get a fuel bath when you remove the fuel line for refilling.
If you look under Manufactures Direct Support Forum, you can ask Dave for more specific questions.
Tim
