I have a Ace Voltmaster and don't have any directions. My question is how do you know what load select you should use on what batteries. The load select option is normal and High, that tells me nothing. For example I have some batteries that are 1200, 1450, 1850 and 2000 ma 4 cell batteries, so do you select normal or High? If somebody can answer this I would appreciate it.

Also approximately how long does a NMHI battery last, 2 years 5 years? I'm sure it depends on a lot of things but somebody give me an idea.

david, i can scan and email you the manual if you want. it goes into full detail about using the different load tests along with no load and watching the needle to determine how your packs are performing. just PM me your email

Hey Dave,

I still have my manual. I'll make a copy and keep it in my car until I run into you at the field again.

The manual says that the "Normal" setting produces a 200 ma load, and the "High" setting produces a 500 ma load. The Normal setting is for 100 to 800 mAh batteries. The High setting is for over 800 mAh batteries.

But I wonder if the Normal setting would be the one to use if you are using i.e. the 1200 pack in a 40 sized plane with standard servos. The Manual's introduction says, "An additional feature is its ability to apply two different loads to the batteries so the reading is valid for small and standard sized cells or the larger 900-2400 mAh batteries commonly used when high current drain servos are used or long duration is required." I may be wrong, but I've been using the Normal setting for my 1100 mAh pack in my 40 size plane, thinking that the High setting may be for larger planes using higher drawing servos.

Hope it helps.

Frank

If your not sure just use the high load to be safe. I alway use the high load (1100mAh up to 2700mAh packs).

Thank you very much for your response, I finally got a copy of the manual from my local Hobby shop.

Thanks again for your help!
