Well now with a good sale going on...I can get the Rustler VXL for $289.99....including battery, charger and transmitter...with shipping and a $10 gift cert.  Is that a good deal?

Also what do you think I should add onto that in terms of batteries...charger...parts?  I plan on using NiMh for now...or are 2S lipos's the way to go.....I'm half afraid of destroying it with LiPo power though.  It's been 20+ yrs since I had an RC Car and this has a lot more power than my buggy did.

i turn my rustler into a onroad rustler i have been running a 1/8 scale monster truck motor in it its fast  alot of power i want to switch back  to a 540 or 550 can motor i like speeds around 45-60mph would a 4000kv 4 pole sensored be a improvement over the 4074 2150kv motor that i have now on 3s.

GH aluminum tranny is less than $30 shipped and it was great. I even reviewed it: http://www.modelkits.com/radio-controlled-kits/golden-horizon-aluminum-transmission-casing-for-traxxas-2wd-vehicles-review.html

hey yea i think i had actually bought that case before..problem i had though which cause of it had to go back to the stock vxl case is the arm moutns which are held on the the case itself with screws got ripped out of the case....maybe if i thread lock the screws that bolt the arm mounts to the case that wont happen again?

Yeah I wasn't crazy about the arm mounts being separate pieces of machinery either, but I had no trouble with them. As long as you loctite them and tighten them down really well, they shouldn't be a probably (or at least weren't for me). I'm pretty sure even the FLM case has this same deal where the a-arm mounts are separate pieces, so I see no reason to buy it (which cost easily $50 more) over the Golden Horizon one which worked fine for me.

I don't know what the best thread lock is. I just use whatever I can get cheapest off ebay when I run out. I'm sure that they're all pretty similar so it shouldn't matter all that much.

if you use the thread lock use the blue one not red BLUE cause if you use red you'll never get it apart again. and as for axles I have the chassis from way back when where it was the black one and i still have those axles on mine and im running a 4300 kv motor in mine and no problems. Ive ripped apart the axles on my t-maxx that i made brushless first so just leave them and replace them once you break them
