glad you found your way to the forum saikou! You should get some bearings carriers (prefably rpm), 5x11x4 bearings, and steel gears!

Just an update.

I want to get a MM esc along with a few other things. I should have a MM esc/Vxl motor setup.

It should keep all the benifits of the MM system while keeping all the benifits of the vxl system.

It will have a small esc, it will run cooler, it will be ajustable, it will handle high gearing, it has a rebuildable motor, it wont have the wires come back. It really wont have any downsides. Should be pretty sweet.

I think that I'm going to get a sidewinder with a VXL motor. Is it possible to get the VXL down to just the can so I can anodize the Motor Red? Should get some Progress don on my Wide-Rustler this week.

Probably, but I cannot seperate the can from the wires. I would just leave it blue, but that's just me.

I'm going to the track this weekend so hopefully I'll be able to get my Rustler running. If I can't I'm just going to have to run my Mini-T.

VXL ESC Problems

Hello! I'm wondering if any of you out there who jumped for the VXL have noticed performance issues with the Velenion system.

I've only been running it for a few months. My main complaint is the lack of control at minimum speeds. The controller seems to get all jumpy and sometimes refuses to make the car move unless I pull the trigger further or it will just slowly jerk forward until I give it more "gas"...

I'm using a couple custom built 2s packs made with A123 cells. They're only 6.6v nominal because I built them for the XL-5, but I soon realized that brushless is the way to go unless you like lower performance and burnt up motors... I quickly ditched the XL-5 before it lost too much value and upgraded to a brand new VXL (so glad I did ).

With these packs I have to run with the low voltage detection turned off (this is fine for A123s). So I'm wondering if I'm running at too low of voltage, could that be causing the jerkiness at slow speeds? It's really annoying when I'm just trying to coast it along and it has an epilepsy fit... has anyone else noticed this?? I personally expected much smother control for an AC system.

Mamba's sound sweet, but I'd rather keep the stock until I'm forced to dump another $200 for a new system. The Velenion should last quite a while...

My other option is to build a 3s at 9.9v and see if that gives me better control at lower speeds. Of course, then I have a car that's way faster on the top end as well, but it's plenty fast at 6.6v, and they're already built...

try backing out the clutch a bit, I do know what your talking about though..... make sure that your packs are correct, it usually happens when I use my 11.1v lipo.

A little review for the RUSTLER so far...

1- every time that i drive the rustler... at the park... every time i get a lot of people stop just to see it running, that's because nobody knows the rustler and even brushless systems around here...
2- firs nitro guy encounter... smoke the s***t out of him... wow he got crazy and the first time i run against him but he's son was driving... he din't notice it... then he came to us and grab the remote from he's son's hands and run it against me... smoke him again... then i got "hey nitro guy... fffff you!!!!"remembering Jeff Dunham with the super hero guy!!! lafting my heart out... then he got very interested to buy one... LOL!!! i was so happy he goes "i know one guy who will buy my nitro to buy your electric... are you interested to sell yours?" and then i go "NOOOOOOO" jejejejej
3- TENERGY PROPEL 4500 "YELLOW ONE's" are performing extremely well.. i run most on hard packet and some lose sand and some small grass... when i pass over the grass and pull the trigger... he will definitely wheelie jejeje more thant 20 minutes of pure fun...

SO I'M A VERY VERY HAPPY RUSTLER OWNER...

PS: by the way... i already broke the bulkhead... already repair it !!! and my brother took it to a ride without my permission.. ggrrrr... he run into a wall almost at full speed and broke the left castor block...fffff word... already repair it... LoL!!!!! they perform extremely well jeje

CHEERS from south america!!!
