IF u consider selling the r40 for its clutch then...

    - all on-road racing cars use a centex clutch different tweaks to each one but the same princible
    - that means if u buy like mugen mtx-4 then the clutch would be set up the same way
    - Its really easy once u nail that and the 2 speed...it takes everyone a long time to understand it
    - some ppl's learning curves arent so good, so keep playign with it

ok... lol ive now got the car to accelerate fast after idling for a few seconds, but now when i do accelerate the car goes fast for 4 secs, then laggs and then i try to caccelerate out of that and the car goes 2 mph or not at all again, but if i leave it for 5 seconds and accelerate its fine, but does the same thing over and over? also when i rev the car in the air the 2nd gear sways the car almost as soon as i acelerate and then it lags? i have the screws 3 turns in, but it still doesnt change gear later? any ideas on these problems?

You should try leaning the high end needle maybe a 1/4 turn an see what happens.

Hey guys, good news! went to my track today for a work party and couple of guys fixed the clutch! The pins were too far out on the clutch! Then i had to lean the car 3 turns for it to react normally! Emits blue smoke tho still! so a.ok for tomorrows racing !

As long as you're getting a lot of smoke especially on acceleration you're fine. If you see no smoke, that's bad. I forgot to mention on the r40 flywheel the pins stick out too far, so you can either try hammering them in, or use a dremel to cut them down. If not done, they'd rub on the CB more than the shoe. It can easily be fixed, but many have still just jumped over to the mugen clutch. Those tiny silver and brass shims that are in the HPI burn up pretty fast especially with a high revving .12. Not to mention they make you put them in the wrong spot where they'd get destroyed. Either way I've sold my R40 to a friend to run with and currently have the MRX4 to race. May get the Hara version later on, but for now it's 8th only. I still have many tuning tips and such for the car though and my old pictures.

Rain and snow this weekend man. I knew this weather wasn't gonna change since last week. Maybe next week though I only have my 8th to run.

Has anyone tried the HPI .12R XS? I just bought one to try it out on my R40.... not a bad deal for $41 dollars

Where can I find a manifold for the engine? I will be using the HPI tuned .12/.15 pipe . Tia

Well i run a .12rxs! Had alot of trouble with the clutch / mixture, but now it runs as sweet as a nut! Not the fastest engine around but has alot of bottom end and acceleration! I got my engine for £50 (new) and that was a bargain. It is very tough to break in, but it does open up quickly. Got 1st meet of the season tomorrow if the rain holds off so i'l tell you how it compares to those rediculously fast £200+ novarossis!

D-Remy may not go to floyd, he prefers bridgeport since the track is cleaner.

Remind Remy that he has to wait until the 30th in order to go to a scheduled race at Bridgeport, the first scheduled race at Floyed Bennit is this sunday. it's not free play, its an actual race.

The tz should fit but its overload, for a car like the r40 I suggest you go with the EB Modded .12 tz. It'll have higher rpm's which is required when racing on road on tracks. the tz will just have more torque and horsepower. You need all that in a touring car.
