I've now got just over a gallon through my LST. This last Saturday, I went to a nearby construction site to really give the LST a supreme beating. I seriously beat the living crap out of it. I normally have some respect for my r/c, but this time I went all out, there wasn't anything that I wouldn't try. I figured "what the hell", I'm basically a beta-tester for this truck anyway since I have one from the first batch, and my LHS has a pretty good selection of replacements already. I probably crashed the thing a good 30 or 40 times, and I was hitting piles of dirt at full speed and reaching 10-15 feet of air pretty regularly. I came down to earth in every possible angle there is. I really was actually trying to break the truck just to see what would happen. After several hours of extremely heavy bashing, my truck stopped moving. It would rev up but go nowhere, and it happen right after a really bad landing. I figured the day was done, the LST is finally broke, I must have stripped a tranny gear. I took it home and removed the tranny and disassembled it to find nothing was wrong! It turns out that the high/low selector had somehow got stuck inbetween high and low, so the gears weren't engaging. Tally of broken parts to date: - 2 a-arms. Both on the front right of the truck. ($10 for 4) - 1 snapped turnbuckle, replaced with a Tmaxx turnbuckle. (already had one) - Glue came loose on all 4 tires, had to re-glue each one. (already have CA) - Stripped steering knuckle, the turnbuckle screw kept popping out so I replaced it with a longer screw and it held fine since. (already have extra screws in tool box) - 1 completely trashed body. It's crinkled, ripped, and crushed, and the body mount holes are all cracked up. (haven't replaced yet) - 2 stripped slipper clutch nuts. These nuts are cheaply made, they strip very easily. They are the exact same nuts that hold the shocks on. (swapped them out with shock nuts) - Chewed up pinion gears. The metal ones on the crank are in pretty bad shape, they have many nicks and dents in them, but my plastic spurs are still in pretty decent shape! (Haven't replaced since they still work........for now) THAT'S IT! I gave this thing a primo beating, my hopped-up Tmaxx would have been broken times over if I did the same things to it! It has cost me a total of $10 to keep it running through all that I've given to it. My $1000+ Tmaxx wouldn't have been able to take that beating. So far I'm super impressed, and the truck is faster than a 2.5 Tmaxx (I drag raced one several times) It's quicker off the line and even has 2 or 3 MPH more than a Maxx on top. It handles great, and has been very durable so far, but RPM needs to get on the ball and make some a-arms for it.
