Hi,

I am looking for a small but aerobatic glider. I dont have the best site to fly in, so low wind and thermaling is what i would be looking for. But I have been flying gas for a while, and am looking for something that will give me a challenge as well.

Any sugestions?

That's a toughy. Low wind light air thermalling and fairly hot aerobatic performance do not go hand in hand. I'd concentrate on the thermalling part since that's a hard challenge all it's own to master. A lightweight aileron model would then let you do a few lazy maneuvers on the way down. Some of the 60 inch DLG's will be as aerobatic as you'll find for a thermal model.

I don't know who makes it now, but the Talon is a superb light-air but aerobatic model. It is still kitted. Also, the DC Turbo ST will fill the bill, but it hasn't been produced in a long time, I think.

Some of the Zagi type flying wings get on well in light air, and when the wind fails, they just bounce.

I agree the Talon would be a good choice given the requirements. It's made by Dynaflite...

Take a look at the Art Hobby Clolibri. Nice arf for the price and does quite well in light air on the slope. I assume you are talking about slope flying? Anther popular light air ship is the Weasel.

Are you looking to fly your glider on the slope or off a hi-start or winch?

my two cents worth , if you want an aerobatic glider that flies in light wind , i recommend the coyote by ripmax , if you dont like the arf version there are still some kits floating around that were made by balsacraft , ive had one for about a month and i just brought some small micros and added rudder as well as flaperons , meaning that it is full house ship , i like the way it moves out, one suggestion if you decide to build one like this is to cut 1.5 off the top and bottom of the wing ribs and make a light fully sheeted wing , a freind has one and after a while we changed his wing to epp , and had a blast doing so because even though the body is a balsa ply compisite , he can now play combat as well...

cheers
