none really... I have the same engine in a 60 size spitfire, fly's it real nice at just over 7lb... if it were an aerobat I'd be wanting more motor. The engine runs nice and has reasonable power for scale/mild aerobatic flying for a 7 to 8 lb plane... It's a bit to heavy and lacking in power for any profile/3D type plane IMHO. If you must use the 91RFS The best profile for it would probably be OMP's 65 inch yak... with an AUW of right around 7.5 lb it simply won't have the power to weight a GREAT profile would need.

I don't agree. The Saito .91 and Saito 1.00 are being put in 46-50 sized profiles now. Spinning a 14x4 prop it makes these planes very fun.

I have one in my EF edge 540, Sloan and Gordo have them in Sledges. The only thing I had to do was move the battery under HStab to get it to balance. I was still under 5lbs. It was about 4.75lbs.

Quicker, the mag 91 is about 3 to 4 oz heavier than the saito AND it has less power, balance will be harder to achieve without lead. You would be hard pressed to keep any 40 size pro under 5lb with the mag 91 on the nose... sure it would fly and have more power than needed BUT it's still gona fly heavy compared to the same plane at 4.5lb. Personally I've found 4 to 5 oz's make a HUGE difference in how well the 40 size plane's fly's no matter how much power you have on the nose.

I won't argue with you on that. A heavy plans is not a fun plane. I didn't realize the Mag was that much heavier.

As long as the weight can be kept down, bigger engines are great. I love my .91 on these profiles.

I don't know about your Mag .91, but mine weighs 22.5 ounces with muffler and both of my Saito .91s weigh 20.5 ounces with muffler. That's 2 ounces difference.

Mine also seem to have about the same power, although I haven't tached them. Both Mags and Saitos need a good bit of running in.

Is it true Magnum and ASP are the same 4 four stroke engine? I have a ASP 80 and it puts out lots of power but it is very sensitive to being run a little lean and will backfire. It likes to be run rich and the valve adjusters are screw type instead of allen type.

Ed, maybe my scale is off... my 91 RFS came in at 24oz, I just figured the advertised weight was without muffler. My mag 91 pulls on average 500rpm less than the saito using the same prop... it is still newish maybe a little more than 2 gallon through it, it may even up with some more fuel

I was using a digital electronic scale to weigh both engines.

My Magnum .91XLS 2-stroke and OS .91FX both weigh over 25 ounces with muffler. Who said 4-strokes were heavy.
