I know its been gone over a million times. But i bought a zdz 80 and i just dont know what oil to use. I am thinking i might use castrol for snowmobiles which is petroleum. Or should i use castor oil. Then do i switch to synthetic. I know what ratio i am going to use. I just wanna know what oil during breakin and what oil after or should i use the same. Please experts i really need the facts not your opinions like "oh this works for me" with nothing to really back it up. Your input always helps but im hoping for a little more hard evidence here to make my choice. Thanks guys

i use a 50-1 for break in and make it a little rich about 60-1 then after it is broke in i switch to amsoil 100-1 and run it about 80-1 i have broke in a number of big engines like this and have always had good results,
good luck and godspeed,

dennis

A generally accepted break-in process is to use a petroleum based oil product, ashless is preferred. 5-10 gallons and then switch to a synthetic oil.

The reasoning is the petroleum based oil provides a finite abrasive as compared to synthetics. This accelerates the break-in process. Nearly all manufacturer's recommend this procedure.

Pay careful attention to the oil manufacturer's recommended oil mixture for two-stroke air-cooled engines. Acceptable ratios vary from 32-50:1 ratios. Specific oil manufacturer's offer info on there product, usually on the back of the container. There is no magic number that anyone can speculate across the board on oil mixture ratios. The oil manufacturer's know what works best for there products.

Lawn Boy, Stihl, Homelite, Pennzoil and others offer readily available petroleum based products.

Contact Cactus Avaition.
They now have an oil which is the best for what you're trying to do.
