It's less than 2 weeks from MVJS and it's time to do a roll call to see who is still planing on attending. Who knows what the weather man will be forecasting in two weeks (heck, they can't predict what it will be doing tomorrow let alone in two weeks), but I'm hoping that the temps will continue out like they have been for this crazy summer.

The real question is: Who is going to win all the trophies?

I'm thinking of driving up from OK.
How is this event? Is there local lodging? will JET A be available?
I am trying to decide between this event and the T38 jet Rally. I can only make one.

I've been helping with this event since it started. Many of the regulars wouldn't want to miss this event. Granted the weather can be "warm", but hey, it is the start of August (Where did summer go?). We don't have any JetA on site - not for sure where you could pick some up on the way. For lodging, you can contact Super 8 motel - I don't know if the block for "MVJS - Jet Scramble" is filled up or not, but they might have some regular rooms left. If not, 18 miles north of Tecumseh is another hotel - sorry, can't think of the name. Will be going down Saturday to do some flying down there, will write the name down and post it.

Go to www.mvjs.com to see some of the info about the site and some pictures of the site. If you have more questions, let me know.

UPDATE!!!

The Super 8 still has rooms blocked under "Missouri valley jet scramble" until Monday. After Monday at 3, the rooms are released to anyone, and the discounting goes away.

So, book those rooms before they are GONE! I don't know if the 3 rooms are still left or not, so call Super 8 in Tecumseh, I don't believe the 800 number will know about the block.

If you like to fly this is the best event you'll see. The field is unbelievable. Also they typically get about 40 pilots so you can almost always get your frequency pin. This will be the fourth year in a row eight of us from MN will be there.

Will one be able to fly into the airport before the jet rally begins? When will the airport be closed to regular traffic?

We don't "close" the airport, we put up a Notice that Remote Control Jets are on the runway. We monitor the radio and will let aircraft come in.

If you are planning to fly in, please try to get in before 9am or so - if not, just be advised there will be jets flying around. If you make a call in about 10 miles out, we should hear you, but might not be able to talk to you. At least with a bit of notice we can get the jets down and clear it out for you. After landing, please taxi back to the taxi way and park on the apron. We have had aircraft land and then get on the side of the grass. We had them taxi on up, just took more time and cause confusion.

Hey Mike. Looks like the weather may be changing for the better by Thursday! Highs right around 90 all weekend according to Accuweather. Not bad for Nebraska in August!

Hey Mark
I check today myself. If I remember right Accuweather said 86 Thurs. 88 Fri. and 91Saturday. Looks like another cool year at MVJS. Of course it will be in the 70's up here. Did you get those new fuel tanks?

Hey Scott. Better Yet. bring your sun screen! Put a 32 oz up front for now. Gives me about another minute and can fly comfortable for a good 4 1/2. Still getting use to flying the Eagle with 10 flights so far. I do have a pair of tanks ready to go just need to get around to putting them in.

See you Thursday--after we have everything set up
