BAS thanks for the info,,, I think it is probably due improper fuel being used here. I´ll pass the info to other pilots so they can try your recomendations.

PilotLight, someone else here is using the 91fx in a UCANDO 60 and works really good for 3D so I should consider using this engine also, Thanks.

Here's the finished Harrier after a bit of a re-fit. I put this in a tree and wrecked the wings and acouple of other small dents in July. I got new wings and put florescent red on the bottom section, re-covered the rudder with yellow for visibilty, put in a new elevator servo, YS 110 and some other careful little touch-ups. Set up is as follows:

YS 110
APC 17x4w
HS 5625 on rudder
HS 475 on all other surfaces
Futaba 3004 on throttle
2100 mah NiMH battery
AUW 8lbs. 7oz
Balanced at 180mm with battery half way back the fuse.

Now I'm just looking forward to some decent weather to re-maiden this thing!

Hey that looks great , i didnt catch if you had run a ys 110 before but if you havent they are a awesome motor. i am going to do the same thing on the bottom of my wings the visibility of this bird is bad with the stock colors. Looks real nice i usually run a 16/4 apc wide blade with my 110 but i will try the 17/4 wide now that it is broken in. I run Wildcat heli 30%.

Thanks BAS at first I´ll try to find 25 or 30 % fuel here and then give it a try. Right now my idea is to get a saito 125 or OS 91FX but not yet decided.

I have some friends with YS110 but they always complain about the engine being too sensitive to pressure changes or humidity, can you tell me why you don experience that problem??

My YS 110 used to have a quitting idle problem I can't figure out. One day it would idle fine, another day it would quit after idling for 20 seconds with the identical setting.

After I turned my regulator screw to 3 turns out, all the problems have gone away.

Hi Sean. I ended up doing that to my first 110. This one has only had 3 tanks through it on the ground but it seems ok so far.

BAS I run Cool Power 30% heli as well. I cut the blue off the bottom before I put the flo. red on. It is H9 UltraCote covering and it looks good because the backing of the florescent red is white and it doesn't spoil the appearance of the clear blue from the top. I did the rudder because I thought it might help keep track of this thing during stunts.
I'm looking forward to flying it again.

What happened to cause the rebuild. Just wondering if it was mechanical, or flying quality of the airplane, or pilot error, etc.

Looks like it should fly great.

Pictures look real good. You should be able to see your plane much better. This plane is terrible for visual. Stripes on the underside and top make it much better. But for the life of me I don't know why manufactuers continue to make planes hard to see. The transparent covering is neat but hard to see in any color. Yours looks much easier to see. Otherwise very neat flyng airplane. 110 seems to be the best engine, but what about the Saito 125? I'll bet that would be cool too.
Thanks
Bud

Transparent covering is lighter, so that may be the reason for using it here.

Pilotlight the plane flys fine it was my screw-up that caused it's mishap. I was trying to learn inverted harriers and planted it in a great big hickory tree. It was going fast so only the wings got wrecked. It was funny actually. The plane was at the top of the tree still running. I had to get a ladder, climb the tree and still pull the plane out of the tree with an extending paint roller handle with a wire hook on the end. My 3D skills have improved since then so I'm hoping to give the plane a proper workout.

CofG I'm sure a Saito 125 would be great on this plane. I like the YS because of the fuel delivery system, particularly when the engine is inverted. I had a Saito 100 in it at first and one of the things I didn't like was the engine would load up with fuel very easily. The S-100 is a great engine, it was just a bit small for this plane in my opinion. I have it in a 3D MiniBipe now and it runs great

RysiuM...
Transparent covering is lighter? Even if that's true, by the time you add stripes etc. to make it easier to see you would add back the weight. I think the manufacturers shouldn't get so easy a pass on this. This plane is fun and a great flying bird but hard to see. Why don't they use the same color scheme but put stripes and a checkerboard underside (ala UCD). That would make if very easy to see and not compromise the airplane. I still think it's a pretty neat airplane.

Thanks
Bud

It is true, however I don't think the manufacturer thought that way. Usually they are quite dumb They listen only to the marketing guys, so they put transparent for the the plane to "look hot".

Transpartent cobering is lighter, so if you conver the plane transparent, the plane will look light. From marketing point of view the plane is "high performance". If it's covered like a trainer, than it's easier to see it, but then who would pay 200 bucks for trainer?

The way of thinking is:

"Oh, cool plane. It is built so light - you can see it through the covering. Even coverning is so thnin (it's transparent), so they must have done everything to save the weight. You can't see the darn thing flying 50 ft away, but who cares - the plane is "high performance" so if you are a good pilot, you don't need to see it"

This is common marketing B.S.

Don't get me wrong. This IS HIGH PERFORMANCE plane. It is light. But in today's world marketing takes number one, and some details are done to boost the sales, not the quality or functionality.
