Hi there
I have heard that HS5945 has had a known programme issue, where the software leads to servo-faliure.
My HS5945MG servoes are dated MAR 02, and the version stamped on the box is "Version 2.00/001212".

Do they have any known falliures (in software og else)?

You'd probably catch more flies with honey than with vinegar, but I would suggest you look in the servo section.

MAR 02 is the most up to date software.

Look... I've looked all over that site for this information and I can't find it. Furthermore; I can't believe that they'd (Hitec) post that any of their servos had inferior firmware from the factory. It may be there but I'd like to see a LINK to it. so far; it's all smoke and mirrors to me. I have yet to (to THIS point in time) see any formal acknowledgement from Hitec or any representative thereof implying that the firmware in any servo from Hitec needed to be updated or otherwise changed.

Sorry. More vinegar I guess. I'm just sick of seeing everyone badmouth Hitec's stuff. I've never had a failure. Personally, I hope these guys keep buying them and dumping them in the Marketplace for pennies on the dollar. It's great for me. I haven't had to buy a Hitec servo at retail for over a year. Yea. They SUCK! Ya'll should get rid of everyone you have!

Get out your fork and spoon there Learning Man, looks like you're going to have to at least eat your words, if not a little crow! :-)

I have had very good success with all my HiTec servos, especially the digitals in my giant scale planes.

GULP! LMAO!

Actually, I never said it didn't exist, just that I couldn't FIND it. I'm still not sure where the link to it is (the page that refers to THIS page on Hitec's site. Sure would like to see a link to THAT page. Bet is's obscure as hell.

Like I said, let'em keep &itchin' 'bout'em. I love it. Makes'em cheaper for cheapskates like me.

Ok, it's not *that* obscure. Just for you, LearningMan, here is how to get there:

(1) Go to www.hitecrcd.com
(2) Click on the "Products" link ("Home Products Support ..." in the upper-right corner of the page)
(3) Click on the "Servos" link ("Radios Servos Receivers ..." just below the last set of links)
(4) Look at the bottom of the list of links on the left-hand side of the screen... see the "Important Information..." link?

I, too, have had good luck with Hitec servos (knock on wood). It's too easy to say "my plane crashed and it must be the ____-brand servos." You probably don't know the person that is posting, nor do you know how good/bad his/her install is. I also know that any product can just plain fail for no good reason. A little luck and a lot of experience is the key.

Oh, and Mike, please forgive me for posting where I know that I'm not supposed to.... but everybody else is doing it!!

thanks alot! Dang I was beginning to worry if my servoes were known to be malfunctioning.
Now I just have to live with the "normal" Hitec issue

I know this is a old thread but where is the date tag. Mine has a green sticker that says 05.10 so that mean october of 2005. Just asking cuz my 5945 craped out today. It says ver 1.04 in it. My servo wont go back to center. It stays at the point where you move it along.

v1.04 revisions are later stock and don't require updating. Sounds like you may have a damaged servo.

Are you by chance utilizing a Futaba PCM system and a wye connector? We have had some problems in this area. Multiple digitals driven from a single channel source of Futaba PCM RX's taxes the RX ability to provide sinking current. Hitec realized this and updated a component to lower the switching voltage threshold. The update is free of charge.
