Hey guys, after running my LST i realize we need a skid plate to protect the steering servos. I e-mailed them, and they sound like they're interested. Click the RPM link to shoot an e-mail over to them if you feel we need some skids!!!

Be nice to have a receiver box that can also store a bigger battery pack also. Also mention a spur & clutch bell shield that is way sturdier too. A-Arms, hub carriers, chassis rails, bulkheads, body posts and shock towers would also be nice to upgrade. Not saying the LST will need them, but be nice to have these options at hand.

When I showed the LST to one of my friends, who loves to bullet proof his Nitro Rustler, the first thing he said was you need a skid pl;ate for your steering servos. So a couple hours later he had one for me. He is often on this forum and goes by snortonrustler2020. I believe it was T6 aluminum that he used. He did a great job

I agree. I emailed them requesting skids and a gear cover, the stock one looks like it could just snap off with a decent hit.

Icenutz, thats a cool skid. Im hoping for an RPM plastic though, for weight savings.

I am glad that everone liked the skid plate that I made... It took a little time but this is one less thing that Icenutz has to worry about I like working with aluminum it's fun stuff, only if I had a CNC machine. Take a look at the custom upper and lower chassis I made for my rusty in my gallery. Later fokes

I gotta say, thermal, RPM is great for skids....but not STEERING skids!!!!

They NEVER made one for the Maxx...why do you think they'd make one for the LST? PRM plastic is too flexible, and that unsupported main protective 'flap' (shown in the pics of the aluminum one) would just bend right into the servo horn.

Think about it...RPM Maxx skids cannot even stand on their own...they have to have the stock skids behind them!! Don't get me wrong, I have & LIKE the full RPM skid set on my Maxx, but what makes them good for that, their bumpers & their suspension arms is flexibility, and from the pics I see, an LST steering skids needs to be SUPER-rigid!! I think it actually needs TITANIUM more than any skid I've seen!!

Actually, now that I've looked at this skid more, perhaps RPM WOULD be OK!!.

The flap faces backwards (right?), so it wouldn't take a head-on blow. And it looks like the Maxx in that you're just adding a protective/decorative layer on TOP of an existing skid.

So it'd be fine, but y'know, I think it will be HEAVIER than Ti AND/OR Aluminum!!!. RPM is thick plastic, where most skids are 2mm aluminum plate (or thinner Ti). I haven't weighed them, but I'd bet if you weighed an RPM rear Maxx skid against an identically sized metal skid, the aluminum would be lighter!!

But it would get beat up more, too!! That's what I like about RPM, it's DESIGNED to wear away & 'sacrifice itself' (the color is all the way thru!!). Aluminum skids look crappy after ANY basic wear...Ti's OK, but I'd get a natural color, as the anodizing WILL wear off!

I think that this skid will work perfectly fine, it is made out of t-6 6061 alum 4mm thick. This alum is a high grade, not as good as 7075 but is still a very rigid alum. It is thicker than the OEM chassis material. The upper angle on this skid plate was put there so it would protect those two servos more. Beleave you me if I had the equipment to cut titanium I would of made that piece with titanium instead of aluminum. Like I said it was fun to make. And if it works great if it does not back to the old drawing board. LOL

snortonrustler2020,
Do u know how thick is the OEM chassis material? From the picture the owners have posted, it looks so thin.
