Anyone else running the Mamba 25 speed controller on a non Mamba motor? I'm running with the himax HA2015 4K - ran it for a week just fine but now its DOA. Checked the battery packs etc - I'm running Thunder 1900 3 cel lipo's - they seem to be in good working order. Wondering if I shoudl just order a mamba full setup - or just give up.

Hi Shawn,

I spoke to you on the phone the other day - we were trying to figure out why I was cogging - and you helped me setup the Throttle curv (wrong word - but allows you to - and + curve). That seemed to work just fine as and I was a happy camper. Ran car last Thursday and it was great - then came in Monday morning to run again and found it DOA. Mamba 25 speed controller does nothing - no beeps nada... Tried with 3 different 3 cell lipo's - the steering servo works fine but again nothing out of the speed controller. I called and spoke to tech support yesterday and was hoping they would mail me a new mamba 25 speed controller - at the same time I mailed back my mamba 25 - I even told them that I would provide credit card info and they could charge me for the unit - and then refund when they got mine in the mail. This did not seem like an option - so I settled for shipping my Speed controller back - it was shipped out yesterday. Would love to get a new/working mamba 25 as soon as possible.

Thx.

You would get a quicker/better response if you use email.

Sorry to but in, but been wanting an 8000 for a while, but am concerned about the drivetrain. If I have a MIP ball diff, will I have to worry about taering it up? What about the idler gear (think that's what it's called) Do you need to have an aluminum spur and pinion?

Thanks

Running an 8000 on 6 cell gp1100's mip diff, stock idler plastic spur and delrin pinion just make sure you glue the pinion on or it will slip and melt

yes 12 would prolly be to much member the bigger the wire the more engergy being used, the bigger doesnt mean better/faster speed just allows the proper transfer and cooling...

Travis,

wet noodle is among the best wire available - there is no such thing as "too big" when it comes to transfering power for hungry brushless setups.

Shawn,

Thanks a bunch for getting the speed control out to me - Just received it and it works like a champ. If you guys figure out what was wrong with the one I shipped back I'd love to know.

Thanks again!!

12 wont make it faster... when he said there is no such thing as big he was refferng the the mambas direct power..lol but i advise not using 12 that can shorten the batt life as well..

besides all that 12 is just way to bulky for that car lol

what kinda wire is that u had laying around? because if isnt flexiwire i wouldnt recommend even using it or even have a silicone sleve....

Generally speaking bigger wire = less resistance = more power. I use super flex 12 ga. wire for all my electrics only because I don't think I've ever seen 10 ga.
What gauge wire are you folks typically using to wire up these high power mamba systems ??

I use 16 GA and it seemsfine... Besides, t doesn't make senseto use a larger ga wire the the wire that goes in to the ESC. It's better tokeepit consistant.

exactly. consistancy is the key.. if the wire from battery is larger then the esc then what? but using that guage wire can infact heat up the connectos.

THANK YOU SHAWN!!!

Well, I am now a Huge fan of the Mamba! I spoke with Shawn and he worked with me on getting my Mamba system working properly and all I can say is Holly Cow! It turned out to be a slightly defective ESC and Shawn got me up and running again in just a few days. Very very little cogging if any! And that's only with the pack mostly dead and to be expected! None at all with it fully charged and Much smoother acceleration then the other one. I'm Completely impressed now! Brushless Rocks!

Thanks again! Gary
