The purpose of this thread is to provide data on warbird ARF's. What the buyer should look for. What the manufacturers could improve. If some on has alread posted on your ARF please post your comments as they will show trends and provide multiple data points.

This is not intended to be a bash thread so please keep the input constructive!!!!!

I will start with the:

Messerschmitt 109 E from Kyosho - I started flying this plane three years ago and it has just completed 10hr of air time. Mine is powered with a Super Tigre GS 45K ABC (Italian made), and has Hobbico .40 size mechanical retacts, and I installed flaps while building the model. The intended purpose of this plane was to be the one that gets flown when conditions are bad enough to keep me from flying my better liked planes. At first I had alot of self imposed elevator problems. The provided elevator pushrod does not have any provition for limiting the movment of the "Y" part to the intended forward and aft movement so I installed Nyrods and a bind which I did not ketch till this summer when I recovered it.

I added 1/4 in under the aft retract ear to move the wheel forward while deployed. This is the first warbird arf to get this far without ripping one or both of the LG mounts out of the wing. Also I can not remember if it cam with plastic LG covers, if it did I removed them early, I like to be able to get at the retacts incase there is a problem so it would be reasonable to assume I removed them. That is where my covering proplems started and eventually required me to replace the covering. Now the planes covering problems started and finally failed there mainly because the muffler outlet was right thereby one of the wheel wells.

With the original covering level flight trim was actually 2-4 degrees of down elevator but when recovered that extra trim went away so I have to assume the covering was very heavy. Because when I recovered I left all the radio install the same and the CG moved forward enough to notice. I ended up moving the 1500mah Rx Batt from under the tank (infront of the wing and moving it to just infront of the servo tray. I have not weight it yet but prior to the new covering it was 6.75#. I never got the elephant skin I've herd about on the original covering but mine also spen a large amount of time in the hot car which always seamed to restretch the covering. The one bad part about the original covering is that there was nothing on the market to match it.

The provided tail wheel bracket did not last long, the second tail wheel bracked lasted longer but needed to be replaced also. I think this is due to the type of flying the plane gets.

In conclution the plane is fun to fly! the power i have provides enough power for all manuvers but still requires a shallow climbout. I specialy like the settling after liftoff giving a very scale look to the manuver. Landings with flaps are great and it can be landed from anywhere.
