I was turning from base to final and it tip stalled and spun in, i got it level and tried to climb out of the gully but couldnt do it in time and it ended up plowing into about 5 trees, coming to a stop resting in the middle of a tree that forked in about 5 directions really wedged in there tight, the major damage is to the wing, it will have to be rebuilt, the fuse and other wing just has holes and dents. the root ribs inside of the fuse that the wing bolts to looks tweeked, just a lot of minor damage that's going to be a pian in the butt. i'm suprised it came out this good liek i said it plowed through about 5 trees, we thought the plane was totaled we knew that we were going down to pick up pieces but were very suprised to find it in good shape

I am glad that this beautiful bird is repairable. You were lucky to have only moderate damage.

I have built and flown this identical airplane and can't figure out how you managed to tip stall it. I'm not questioning your flying abilities, just curious.

i was in a steep turn to the right and pulled to hard with not enough power in the turn, i'm still new to **** and still learning, learn from your mistakes i guess, but i was in a high bank turn a little more than 45 i would say and pulled a little too hard, but i thiought i had enough power but obviously not, and all of a sudden it started to spin

more pics

flycatch: what does yours weigh, what r u powering it with, do u use flaps on landing,

Racer,

My plane weights about 14lbs wet. It is powered by a YS 1.2 4 cycle engine. Flaps are incorporated. The plane in-flight is majestic however it would not be my first choice for a kit built model.

flycatch, i cant believe yours weighs 14lbs, mine weighs 18, but i run a g-26, a buddy of mine has one that weighs 20 pounds with a satio radial, i'll post some new pics this afternoon, i might be done with it by then

question: since mine is about 4 pounds heavier than yours would that make it more likely to tip stall and spin out than yours in a high bank turn?

The Beaver listed by Ikon calls for a .91-1.2 4 cycle engine. It's wngspan is 96". Is this the same plane that you have? The same plane could be flown on a .91 with no problem. I choose the 1.2 because I was considering using it as my first float plane. With this size engine most of my flying is done at 1/4 throttle once airborne.
The size engine you are using explains the weight gain but I don't think it attributed to your tip stall. I built a 1/5 scale SR-2 crop duster from plans and it called for a Qudra 35. Instead of using this size powerplant I used a 1.2 2 cycle engine. The total flying weight of this model was 14lbs. If I used the Qudra it would probably weigh 18lbs.
