Hi guys,

I have been out of the R/C hobby for about 6 years now and am trying to get started again. Wow I can’t for the life of me remember just why I gave it up. Anyway.. after digging up all my R/C equipment out of the back corner of the basement, cleaning up my planes and other gear I found to my surprise that all my radio and receiver batteries still work, I charged them all up for about 12 hours then completely bled them off by leaving the equipment on, after charging them up again they seem fine. Both radios indicate a full charge and the batteries in the receivers seem to be OK. A range check looked good and I seem to get about an hour and a half out of the batteries, this was while intermittently playing with the servos. I guess my real question is “do I trust these batteries”. All articles I can find talk about recharge cycles and memory but nothing is said about shelf life. Also I forgot to mention that these batteries were reasonably new at the time I put them away.

Glad to hear your back to flying

If I were you I would cycle all my batteries and if the capacity is at least 70% of the original capacity they should be fine. But if you don't feel good about them replece them it is a lot cheaper to buy a new battery than to buy a new plane

Best to cycle them! My nephew pulled his stuff out of the corner afer just 3 years and tried to convince me everything was OK. I now have what is left of the plane in a bag in the basement.
