The Raven is an interesting airplane, though cheating the LE sweep from straight to swept I think changes the flavor of the airplane. However didnt the Ravenhave a wing with a swept LE and TE in the early days brfore he put the Zivk wing on it.

BTW, what snap problems does the Edge have? I though the Carden Edge I had was one of the better snapping airplanes I have owned. The new H9 Edge is also one of the best snapping models of the H9 family. Do you mean the unusual spin entry stall (or lack of stall)?

Hi. How about offering some of your planes as a kit. Most of them all use laser cutting now anyway so it wouldn't be to hard to puts some parts in a box and sell it cheaper. I personally like to build my own stuff and like to give my own look. Jim

Yes Mike I am sorry I meant to say spin not snap. I would not cheat the LE much maybe an 1" on each tip. I don't think you would notice the sweep unless you looked real hard. I think this might help the spin. Myself and DS have talked about this a bit and both think the cheated LE would make the aircraft awsome all around.

Re the Raven. It would help but it wouldnt be a Raven. IMHO wing planform isnt fair game to change if changing from a straight LE or TE to something else. However, George Hicks and I had this discussion a few weeks ago, and I'm pretty sure the Raven (not Turbo Raven) originally had a different, swept LE and TE wing.

As far as the request for kits, that us an interesting idea. On the surface it seems pretty simple, however one huge road block is the development of a construction manual. To do one for a kit to H9 standards would be a huge undertaking. I remember from my days at Midwest, it took us longer to produce a construction manual than it did to design, prototype, test and finalize the model.
I dont believe we could recoup the investment it would take to kit our models.

MIke I would love to see an a-10 arf and I know there are many others out there feel the same. The issue is to make it a twin or a single engine pusher like combat models. It would have to be a larder model like 1/4 scale or so. I love my hanger 9 cessna keep up the good work.

The Raven originally had the stock Rebel 300 wing on it until Wayne broke it (failed 1 of 2 spars completely). This was a double tapered wing similar to the Extra. Wayne had Zivko design him a new wing, and the Raven currently has what amounts to the Edge 540T wing on it. Straight leading edge and all.

I second the idea of Wildbeat, with a full 2M Patternship. Hanger 9 has some of the best built IMAC type ARF planes out there. It would be a product many people would be interested in. If built light with the ability to do either 2 or 4 stroke setups.

Here is the reply I got from Wayne in question about his wing.

"Chris,

The original Raven wing had a swept leading and trailing edge, plus wing tip plates. I replaced that wing with an Edge wing from Zivco around 1995.

Wayne"

I would also like to vote for a 2m Pattern rig. Fixed gear. PLUG IN WINGS. With Hanger 9 hardware...especially a pull-pull wheel...and maybe some of those servo arms. (while I am on the topic of the aluminum parts, the gold has to go.)
Call it the Desire 2005X

I sure would ilke to see some planes for the 50cc category like the 80" Cap was far. A lot of us guys don't want the big, big birds like 33+%. I have a DA 50 and would love to see a plane in the category like the 80" Cap. Be a perfect market for a G62 and like you market the 33%'s for the GT-80. Any place a G62 will fit my DA will for sure.

I'm not real picky on what. A Ultimate (as it has been mentioned Aeroworks makes one this size 28%, but it is short, fat and looks like a Pitts and not a Ultimate), Edge, or anything along those lines. Katana.

There are several 80" Caps at my field and all of us wonder if/when something else will come along in the same size.
Thanks,

Norman Ross

I'm not sold on a 2m pattern plane. I think the market would be pretty small.

HELLO MIKE MY FIRST GASSER (AND ONLY) IS THE 33% EXTRA330S WHICH I AM CURRENTLY INSTALLING A NEW FUSE AND RIGHT WING ON AFTER SOME SERIOUS PILOT ERROR A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO !!! I HAVE TO SAY I AM A FAIRLY NEW PILOT AND LOVE THE WAY THIS PLANE FLIES!!! I WOULD LIKE TO SEE HANGAR 9 OFFER ACCESORIES TO UPGRADE THE PLANES ALREADY OUT THERE LIKE CARBON FIBER GEAR WHICH IF IM NOT MISTAKEN WILL BE STANDARD ON THE NEW EDGE 540. AND JUDGING FROM THE PERFORMANCE OF THE EXTRA 330: I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THAT IN A .60 TO .90 SIZE!!! BECAUSE AS MUCH AS I LOVE THE EXTRA IT IS A PAIN IN THE YOU KNOW WHAT TO TAKE TO THE FIELD IF ITS NOT THE ONLY THING I PLAN ON FLYING THAT DAY!!!!!!!!

THANKS FOR YOUR TIME MARK

I also like the idea of a larger profile, something in a size range that would fly well with a .90-1.10 4-stroke.

I think the F90 was one of H9s best ideas yet. VERY affordable, and though not a "giant scale" per se, it is a farily large airplane. I think H9 really could fill a niche with planes like this, that fill a gap between .60 size stuff and the 25-29% craft where you're looking at a pretty large price jump.

I would love to see a Turbo Raven. Give it the Oracle covering scheme, and the exhaust stacks on the nose. Put it at around the size of the F90 and design it around a 1.20-1.50 4 stroke and I would buy two, even if the price needed to be up there a little. I'm a big fan of the Turbo Raven but as far as I know, the only larger one I've seen is 1/3 scale composite, and damn expensive.

I never made any mention of the market size....I just would love a reasonably priced 2m pattern plane from a US company. ..May be the smallest niche. No doubt....I had to chuck my 2cents in!
How about an ARF Snoopy's Dog House? Always a big hit at the fun-flys! j/k
Take care.

Mike:

As I, and quite a few others posted on the other thread you started, I think that a 50cc Funtana would be great.
I truly enjoy the Funtanas 40 a nd 90, and love flying the 33% Cap. I am sure H9 could do very well with a 50cc size plane: more stable in 3D than current Funtanas, but more affordable and easier to transport than 40% or even 33%.

Just my humble pinion (or is it wishes?)

Hi Mike

Nice to see your participation on this forum. I would love to see a Bearcat in the H-9 line. NOBODY (Except ACE's Rare Bear..see comments below) makes one! I also think it is great what you guys are doing to the E-flight line.

One small nitpik is the new Miss America. This is an awesome plane and I love to see racers modeled, but I hate it when they cheat on the outline. It needs clipped wings! Simple mod and not an appreciable W/L increase. I've seen lots of racers but they seem to be rebadged warhorses. The RB for instance has stock wings, tall canopy and the wrong rudder! Sheesh..thay started out to build a racer in the first place. Ok enough whining...love the H-9 stuff!

Thanks
Red

P.s. I will build a Miss A as soon as the FF gets here!

i would like to see more warbirds-

1. a large scale p-47, with the option of an arc version. retracts optional. 80-81 inch wing

2. a large scale hellcat, same options, same size

3. a large scale fw190a8 or fw190d9, same options, same size

for your 60 size warbirds make the retracts optional also, as the ones you provide on the 60 size mustang do not hold up well on grass runways.

i would also like to be able to buy a p-38 designed from the ground up for the new electric brushless motors and either nimh or lithium batteries. right now a wing in the 60-70 inch range would be good as the battery costs would not be too bad for this size plane, but i would be sure to include hatches under the engine nacelles for easy battery access and changing. this is because the new guidelines say you should not charge lithium batteries in the plane. of course they also need to have provision for battery cooling during flight. optional retracts here also.

othe electric warbirds in the 40 size range would be good also. these would also use relatively low cost batteries.

thanks

ed

2m pattern, 2m pattern, 2m pattern. If ya build em, they will come!!!!!!!!!! Most people can't get into pattern because there are few "Hanger 9 type arfs"........... I know alot of us in pattern nowadays are trying to buy arf's and they seem to sell em quickly. I know hanger 9 won't do one because it aint there thing. But it would be nice to have hanger 9 get into the pattern scene!!!!!

I would love to see a YAK :-) Lots of sales with YAKS for sure. Maybe a 100CC or 150CC...I'd love to see a 150CC EXTRA YAK or EDGE540 in the H9 Line!

I can go for a 24lbs. 100cc ultimate. Then i would stick my ZDZ 80 in it to make it even lighter. Alot of ZDZ 80s out there and I think people would be interested in this inexpensive but killer combo.
