Im the thick one? Eh, im sorry but i have to dissagree. See when i post, i use proper punctuation. Not only that but i dont flame, attack, or resort to making crude comments about other brands or people unless warranted. Talking to you and graham is a complete waste of time and energy, you do not want to take part in a rational discussion, and thats great. Have fun, im done with you guys.

well, i am not a fan of flaming a particular vehicle just 'because', but i don't think that video proved any durability of the xtm...i have seen a t-maxx drive away from worse crashes than those...need i remind you that maxx's are my least favorite truck and they are the least durable of any truck (got mine for free... :/ ). anyways, i agree with grahama and browney...hyper 7 is the way to go.

Maybe I'm missing something, but if you can drive away from that it looks pretty good. I have an X-term and run it pretty hard and have NOT BROKEN anything. These things will brake, it does not matter which one it is. They are not bullet proof. IMO the X-Term is a good buggy. If you want a real good buggy get the FG Marder 23cc two stroke not nitro.

1/5ths are ok if you have the space to run them.

WOW i leave this thread for 4 days and it turs into a bash the X-T thread?!?!! what the hell..? first off thank you to those who have actually answered my questions ( Bajan_dread, CONN, B@asher, hopesfall, MR Savage)... and FOR the LAST TIME THE HYPER 7 IS NOT IN MY BUDGET. I DONT WANT IT. GIVE UP!! And what about those videos i posted a while back??? that stock X-T looked pretty strong to me... and i dont mind if a break a few parts here and there... then i can upgrade them to aluminum... and if you are going to put down the X-T at least give valid reasons as to why it broke. i dont wanna hear this " the X-T sucks so buy the Hyper 7" B***S***

If the Hyper 7 is not in your budget, then NO nitro 1/8 rallyX buggy will be. It takse at least $500 to get started in them and that rapidly woll increase in your first few months as you find the weak point of whatever you decide on and replace those parts. I honestly think you can't afford to run one yet and it does cost a lot more to run a budget buggy than you are obviously thinking.

go for the x-t its plenty tough enough for anyone as long as you get (or make ) a brace for the rear diff case it is a genuine weak spot ,but the only one i have found so far in three months of pretty hard use. ignore grahama89 he is obssesed with ofna/ho bao you've only got to look at his posts ofna this , hyper that. if you said you wanted a pet kitten it would be "get a hyper 7, kitten's are s**t they break fall apart etc etc. enjoy your buggy when you get it and ignore brand obssesed fools.

thats my rant for the day ,thankyou and goodnight .

i have the x-t and it kicks ass!! the only thing i have done is put in a xtm 21 in it. i bash it and race it. i took out a fence post at the dirt in hemet, with all the other buggys running you could here it smack. all it cost me was a set of arms and a shock tower!! i am looking at mine right now and the ground clearence is about 1 to 1.5 inches. it could be more if you pre loaded the shocks!! go with the x it is cheaper to start and if you break something it is cheap to fix!!!!

ps i really can drive i was having toubles with th clutch that night

i cant comment on the xtm buggy, but i do see them in pieces behind the lhs counter more often than other buggies... but i dont know what some people have done to them so ill let that be null...

i used to have a tmaxx. THAT was a horrible truck. i broke the front a arms, shocks, bulkheads, chassis braces, the chassis was slightly twisted, body mounts broke, the stock body wasnt very strong(i ripped it in TWO PIECES from one jump), the gears stripped in the tranny, the diffs got eaten up when i replaced the POS 2.5 engine(which lasted 2 gallons) with a fantom 18(great engine but plan on beefing up your diffs). etc etc. i had over $2000 spent at the lhs, ill say that about $150 was fuel and batteries and whatnot, $420 was the truck itself, the rest was replacements and upgrades for things that broke.

go to www.rc-mushroom.com and look at the selection of cars. there are HYPER 7 PBSs for $295!! that is a STEAL. you gotta pay shipping which ill guess is around $40-50 from hong kong, but many people have attested that it is a reputable dealer, it will just take a few weeks at most. get that, starter box batteries, a charger, and a new steering servo plus the stuff like glow igniter and extra plugs and whatnot. you'll end up around your budget and you'll have a buggy that you arent taking a chance on.

i myself am actually looking to buy a new nitro MT or buggy, and im personally going for the mayhem since they have so many good features. bit more expensive but nothing needs replaced but the tires

Heya Flatlander! Glad to see the Sportwerks Mayhem ownership expanding. It really is a great buggy. I can testify on that. I wish it would break more often so I can tinker with it. But it just takes my abuse and keeps going. Reminds me of my GS Storm pro...*sigh* I wish I never sold it.

I really hate to bash on someone's perference for an R/C vehicle, but I really must say that the XTM buggy will become a money pit in the long run if you plan on getting aluminum parts for it down the road. I can assure you that once you get one or two aluminum parts, you will be bit by the "upgrade bug" and want more. Then you will run out of money and your buggy will be left in pieces, waiting to be fitted with more aluminum parts. Your buggy will remain that way until you scrounge more money up to buy more aluminum parts. But when you convince yourself to just go with what you have and you notice the buggy behaving strangely than it did before you installed aluminum parts, you will get fed up with the buggy. Hi, my name is Harry, and I was once an upgrade-aholic. LOL! It's true. It has happened to me, and it has happened to a couple of my friends before. I would recommend that when you get this buggy, and since it is only for bashing and not racing, just get a couple stock spares and enjoy the buggy as it comes. It will save you more money in the long run, plus you will enjoy the buggy more. I think if you really love this buggy, go for it. I can remember being laughed at when I bought a GS Storm Pro, while everyone told me it was the worst POS to ever hit the streets. But that was because people were not spending time on the buggy, or building it properly. Sure the GS Storm Pro had a defective front differential drive gear (and sometimes the rear went as well), but Horizon Hobby took good care of me and they honored the defective parts and then some. Then when I had a good racer drive my buggy for me and actually place 4th with it, people quickly shut up. It did not break or anything. The worst it suffered was a broken front bumper.

Grahama, Browney, and others who slam against this buggy: this is what the kid wants. I think you guys are very admirable for making sure he spends his money wisely, but sometimes people have to touch the hot stove and learn from the burning pain. I also think an OFNA or Kyosho Sports buggy (such as this OFNA buggy http://acehardwarehobbies.com/2.2/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=18_33&products_id=6031 for such a great price, or this Kyosho Sports buggy http://rc-mushroom.com/product_info.php?cPath=35&products_id=3240) would be a better choice, but his heart is set. This hobby does give people all types of experiences ranging from good to bad. He's got to experience everything so he can grow wiser in the future of his R/C hobby.

Kid, I say go for the buggy. Also, read this review I scrounged for you from Nitroreview.com (http://www.nitroreview.com/reviews/viewreview.cfm?reviewid=519). The guy liked his XTM buggy and has some good information on what to do with your buggy when you get it. And most importantly, enjoy!

P.S. Browney and Grahama know quite a bit about what they are talking about. They are not likely to BS about what they say. They are simply looking out for your best interest.

flatlander: thank you for your help... thats a great price but ordering off the internet isnt really an option... well maybe but not from hong kong

nurch: i have seen in other posts that grahama and browney have lots of knowledge on 1\8 scales buggys... but when there posts say " dont buy it cause its crap" that kinda makes me not want to take there "advice"

and a few more questions...

1. can you add reverse to the X-T?
2. about how many gallons should a nitro engine last?
