Heya Flatlander! Glad to see the Sportwerks Mayhem ownership expanding. It really is a great buggy. I can testify on that. I wish it would break more often so I can tinker with it. But it just takes my abuse and keeps going. Reminds me of my GS Storm pro...*sigh* I wish I never sold it. I really hate to bash on someone's perference for an R/C vehicle, but I really must say that the XTM buggy will become a money pit in the long run if you plan on getting aluminum parts for it down the road. I can assure you that once you get one or two aluminum parts, you will be bit by the "upgrade bug" and want more. Then you will run out of money and your buggy will be left in pieces, waiting to be fitted with more aluminum parts. Your buggy will remain that way until you scrounge more money up to buy more aluminum parts. But when you convince yourself to just go with what you have and you notice the buggy behaving strangely than it did before you installed aluminum parts, you will get fed up with the buggy. Hi, my name is Harry, and I was once an upgrade-aholic. LOL! It's true. It has happened to me, and it has happened to a couple of my friends before. I would recommend that when you get this buggy, and since it is only for bashing and not racing, just get a couple stock spares and enjoy the buggy as it comes. It will save you more money in the long run, plus you will enjoy the buggy more. I think if you really love this buggy, go for it. I can remember being laughed at when I bought a GS Storm Pro, while everyone told me it was the worst POS to ever hit the streets. But that was because people were not spending time on the buggy, or building it properly. Sure the GS Storm Pro had a defective front differential drive gear (and sometimes the rear went as well), but Horizon Hobby took good care of me and they honored the defective parts and then some. Then when I had a good racer drive my buggy for me and actually place 4th with it, people quickly shut up. It did not break or anything. The worst it suffered was a broken front bumper. Grahama, Browney, and others who slam against this buggy: this is what the kid wants. I think you guys are very admirable for making sure he spends his money wisely, but sometimes people have to touch the hot stove and learn from the burning pain. I also think an OFNA or Kyosho Sports buggy (such as this OFNA buggy http://acehardwarehobbies.com/2.2/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=18_33&products_id=6031 for such a great price, or this Kyosho Sports buggy http://rc-mushroom.com/product_info.php?cPath=35&products_id=3240) would be a better choice, but his heart is set. This hobby does give people all types of experiences ranging from good to bad. He's got to experience everything so he can grow wiser in the future of his R/C hobby. Kid, I say go for the buggy. Also, read this review I scrounged for you from Nitroreview.com (http://www.nitroreview.com/reviews/viewreview.cfm?reviewid=519). The guy liked his XTM buggy and has some good information on what to do with your buggy when you get it. And most importantly, enjoy! P.S. Browney and Grahama know quite a bit about what they are talking about. They are not likely to BS about what they say. They are simply looking out for your best interest.
