Status: offline 		PI, A couple of weeks ago i finished a Sig Fieldboss, painted with Lustrekote. What a great kit to put together, and the final result was awesome! Lots of room to carry everything I need, and to keep it well organized. It's one big field box, so if you are the minimalist type this is not for you, but if you want a well designed, well constructed fieldbox that will take all your abuse and outlast you, I heartily recommend it.

Status: offline 		I use the GP Master Caddy. I like it because I didn't have to build it. Has a power panel, Super X fuel pump, plenty of room for most tools.

Status: offline 		Hattend, the Master Caddy is precisely what I built the fieldboss to replace. It's a nice box, but there's no way to carry normal sized screwdrivers in the drawers, and because the drawers are assembled with small nails they tend to fall apart at the corners. I had mine for a couple of years, and I guess is still has a couple more left in it, but I'm much happier with the Fieldboss. To each their own, I guess...

It's pretty badly beat up, but still works.

Status: offline 		I bought a Stanley mobile tool chest. It comes apart in about 3 pieces and has rollers. Since I have a bad back, I need something mobile, and could save trips to the truck.

One trip now moves everything in tools and I put my fuel on top.

I modified the bottom drawer of mine. I installed my 12volt battery in it using double sided tap, and then added 2 sets of banna jacks and a power switch in the front. I just plug my starter into the front of box and that's it. And I charge the battery thru the banna jacks also.

Oh, BTW I also bought a chepo gas can from Walmart and taped my elec pump and a 9v battery to it. To fuel the plane I only have to pick up the gal gas can and flip a switch..

If I can get some pics I will post them, for now here is a link to the case. You can get one at Home Depot for about $80.

Status: offline 		Made mine from a Rubbermaid step stool-tool tote. Flip top with a tool tray for "stuff". Article was in R/C Report. July and November 1996. Has 12 volt battery holder, power panel and pump mounted on masonite panels. Built a two wheeled dolly using plywood and wheels from an old lawnmower. One gallon can (modified to put the spout on the side is stored under the box and holds the fuel. Conduit pipe bent into a "puller" to get from the parking lot ot the pits. Beats carrying!!. Foam kneeler from Ace hardware covers one side and keeps the paper towel roll, the clean-up spray, the halon fire extinguisher and the ESV (in a plastic box) from falling out of the dolly. Regards.

Status: offline 		I was really cheep... I just drew out what I needed one day and built mine from 1/4" plywood with a 3/4" pine bottom.... It has two deep drawers, a top tray and a area for the fuel bottle with a bungie cord retainer... I'll have to take some pictures of it and post 'em.... I really like it and it didn't cost me a thing as it was built from left over scrap from a desk project....

I saw that same article. I am considering buying one of those and building a "quickie" to use when I just want to fly for a few hours.

Sometimes I will go flying, if something is not right, I will bring it home and fix it. That's true when it gets colder..

You cheated. Using readily available products is not allowed..but a good idea. Post some pics if you can.

I have the mastercaddy also. It's good, but I quickly outgrew it. So, it may go to my nephew. He is about to die to get into flying..


Hmmm. Maybe I have found someone to carry some of my stuff.:p

Status: offline 		I'm using the Sig one mentioned above. It's a great one if you believe in carrying all to the field.
I modified mine to carry a compressor for the retracts and a quick field charger with the power panel as well.

Here are a couple of photos while building it. Sorry I forgot to tak a photo after it was done.
